Ok guys n gals its official. Lets start planning this out now
Hey guys, the shelters were going fast so I reserved #2 today. It's set for Saturday April 19th. Now let the fun begin of planning out food n all that fun stuff :)
There is a map of Dan Nicholas park @ http://dannicholaspark.net/viewparkmap.aspx #2 is near the entrance but also by a parking lot that should provide plenty of parking for everyone with minimal walking. And those that remember last years get together there this shelter is MUCH closer to the bathrooms!

hambone1958 01-10-2008, 01:58 AM We will be there. Are we going to have a "Host" motel? What do we need to bring?
wwhijr 01-10-2008, 04:28 AM Are we bringing food or what? Any fee? Looking forward to it. I am about 2 hours from the park.
TeamRinaldi 01-10-2008, 04:55 AM I'm not opposed to the host hotel idea, but does anyone feel like camping? I see they have a group camp area as well.
They have camping, rv camping and cabin rentals on site. There are several area hotels as well.
hambone1958 01-10-2008, 05:42 AM Cabin rentals that could work.:)
truckdude239 01-10-2008, 05:55 AM i will be attenting this one i stoped by work todya and asked i have the day off now sweet:metal: now to see if i can get the 71 going by then
scott's69 01-10-2008, 06:25 AM Since it's official,...officially put me down with three (me, the wife and the 69)hahaha. We will be there. What else do we need to bring? Lookin forward to meeting a few truck nutz!!!:ennyd:
We're planning on grilling hamburgers and hot dogs again this year. If y'all wanna bring anything we're gonna need drinks and chips and possibly some desert type foods for those inclined to do so. Let us know if you're gonna bring something so we know what to get before the meet! No fee, just show up n have a good time!
space 01-11-2008, 01:34 AM Count me and the wifey in.
Total Est. Time: 2 hours, 34 minutes Total Est. Distance: 159.79 miles :metal:
When is everyone else leaving? We could get a convoy heading from Raleigh...
space cowboy, it doesnt take nearly that long just so ya know. When I was going to mediation for child custody, I had to go to lillington courthouse. It took us under 2 hrs to get there depending on the traffic.
Im not sure how mapquest will tell you, but if you take 24/27 straight into albamarle then the connector to 52 it is quick n easy. I do that drive (half way) every other weekend to drop the kids off with their Dad.
space 01-11-2008, 02:08 AM Sweet. I was just looking at that route. I'd much rather drive thru the country than the highway. Oh, and we can help with the food, etc. Just let me know.
Lassiter 01-11-2008, 03:06 AM I'm planning to drive my rust bucket from Charlotte/MintHill.
I'll check back in sometime about food, etc.
Look forward to meeting you folks and seeing your rides!
1972Ryan 01-11-2008, 11:27 AM Where is this place exactly? Thinking of coming from Asheville.
space 01-11-2008, 11:47 AM Salisbury.
space 01-11-2008, 11:51 AM Ok, I have a crazy question. Since the Nationals is only 2 weeks later, and it's not that much further for most, why don't we do that? Just throwing that out there...
the nats have a meet goin on already as well. I know right now bryan luv woody ron robb pickles josh and myself will be there. I believe bad6772 and seeten will also be there.
We wanted to do one a little closer to home as well. The goal with this meet is a one day cookout get together to have fun and just bs without turning it into a weekend deal. It makes it easier for many to come to a one day even instead of a weekend long one that is twice as far or further for some members. The shelter is also reserved (non refundable) along with other details also set, people have time off to attend etc.
space 01-11-2008, 11:43 PM 10-4. Hell I may try to make the Nationals too. My wife and I were married in MV many moons ago so I'm pretty sure she'd be up for a road trip there.
sweet the more the merrier.
JetMech52 01-15-2008, 10:19 AM what all do i need to do to attend?
show up :) I think closer to the date we can discuss who can bring what etc. Right now lets just get the word out that we are doing this.
Longhorn321 01-16-2008, 04:22 PM How 'bout those of us from south of the border? Is this a NC only kinda thing?:uhmk:
not at all, we would love to have a showing from all over. According to the map, your only about 2 hrs away, so we expect to see ya in April :)
Longhorn321 01-17-2008, 10:18 AM I have no plans for that date that I know of so for now, see you in April!:metal:
PanelDeland 01-17-2008, 12:54 PM I'm in Liz.I will be there barring unforseen circumstances.Meaning if I'm breathing and my boss don't screw my schedule up.
PanelDeland 01-18-2008, 08:04 AM Just for everyones info,There is no barriers for attending meets that I have ever seen. The limitations are your own schedules.Longhorn man will tell you to be careful of traveling very far though. They might just have a meet cause you came.
Besides that if the "TnZooKrue" lets me come to their events they can't be pickyy.
OrangeCrush1970 01-19-2008, 04:11 AM Hmmm.... Looks like it'll be a 4.5 hr drive from Atlanta, but I have been dying to attend one of these! Looks like I might have to get a bigger gas tank!!!
Why ;) theres plenty of stations along the way, and most of them go down in price the closer you get.
Honestly it isnt a bad ride, we've done it a few times.
Micmac 01-20-2008, 09:52 AM I think that's the one weekend that month I teach. I'll get back to ya.
phlegm 01-22-2008, 10:44 PM I might be able to make this one.... wifes birthday though maybe her present will be that I take the kids to the park for the day while she gets a break!
Ron 586 01-23-2008, 12:20 AM I might be able to make this one.... wifes birthday though maybe her present will be that I take the kids to the park for the day while she gets a break!

phlegm 01-23-2008, 10:14 PM If you pull this one off you will be on my hero list for sure. Good luck on making the meet however you do it.
Wow, you've met her.... who knew... lol.
63 & 64 Bowties 01-23-2008, 10:37 PM Mind if a Virginia boy crashes the party? I just looked....175 miles. I could do that. Have to check the work schedule to be sure though.

Andy4639 01-24-2008, 12:01 AM I will try and see what the work load is and may come for the day. About 3 hrs for me. Afterward I can run over to my parents in Conover and spend the night and visit with them.
micmac : It would be great if you could make it.
phlegm: we could bake her a cake if it would help you at all ;)
ron: if he pulls that one off, he wil be my hero as well  I so dont see her going for that though.
63&64: the more the merrier, we would love for the Va folks to make this one as well
Andy: That would be great! Will you be wearing all red too ;) just kidding :)
Andy4639 01-25-2008, 01:07 AM I can if it helps know who I am.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Darrell
Rippin-J 01-30-2008, 09:31 AM Count me in for 3, unless pooches are allowed at the park, in which case we'll be 4 including the dog and truck.
lookin' forward to it.:chevy:
pooches are allowed at the park, lots of people go there just to walk them around the lake.
wnc mountain 01-31-2008, 11:10 PM Ok, I beleive that I can make it. Now just need to get the truck ready for the trip!:metal:
gcburdic 02-01-2008, 12:15 AM I am really going to try and make it....would love to meet you all!!!:metal:
Andy4639 02-01-2008, 04:14 AM Confirmed the dates at work I think I'll make it also. I'll try and remeber the red to LIZ!
70inline6 02-03-2008, 12:02 AM Sounds like this might be fun.... :gi:
redneckgirl 02-03-2008, 01:54 AM We first 'met' Josh and Liz last spring at the Meet/birthday party they had for Daniel...I have to say it was one of the best times we've had. The park is very nice, and the whole family had a BALL! I sure hope we'll be able to make it!
scott's69 02-04-2008, 12:01 PM We (Scott & Trish) will be there in Salisbury and we'll be @ the Nats with the 69 (always driven everywhere!!). Hope everyone can come and have a safe trip. Anyone wanting to cruise up together, let us know!! :flagw:
just about 8 weeks to go. I can't wait :)
Lassiter 02-13-2008, 04:02 AM Thanks Liz! That just makes me realize how little time I have to get my clunker road-worthy!
hambone1958 02-13-2008, 04:11 AM We are coming if we can get a few more bugs worked out of "Jumpin Jimmy".
daveo68 02-16-2008, 02:47 AM Looks like I will be able to be there. Finally got bugs worked out of my truck.
Dave
phlegm 02-21-2008, 11:07 PM I think the wife and I plus 2 rug rats are going to make this.... I have heard her tell more then one person I am taking her to a "Truck Show" on her birthday.
Looks like the ski trip last week may have worked
highrpm 02-23-2008, 05:41 PM My son and I will be there.
Hopefully the Suburban is going by then.
redneckgirl 02-23-2008, 07:11 PM It is looking like we'll make it....

I can not wait, this is gonna be a blast.
slugish 02-28-2008, 05:42 AM would an old fart with a 84 be out of place here . Sounds like most everybody is in the pre 72 crowd. How do you get to this place from Greensboro . Am actually from Va. , but my son lives in Greensboro.
Everyones welcome, We got everything here from a 67 to a 86 to a 06 in our driveway. Just take 85 south from Greensboro and watch for the exit near Spencer NC just before Salisbury.

For anyone else wondering the address of the park is:
Dan Nicholas Park:
704-636-0154
6800 Bringle Ferry Rd
Salisbury, NC 28146
Ron 586 02-28-2008, 07:02 PM I just punched this into mapquest and came up with 540.57 miles and 8 hours 47 min. driving time. This calls for some strategy. I would probably be missed if I was gone that long. We'll work on it.
phlegm 03-04-2008, 12:01 AM Come on guys only a month and 2 weeks away, anyone else getting excited?
gcburdic 03-04-2008, 05:06 PM Come on guys only a month and 2 weeks away, anyone else getting excited?
:agree: Heck yeah!!!...I look forward to putting faces with everyone's user id's!!!....
By the way, would it be okay to bring some parts to sell....I'm a rookie to this thing, so I thought I'd ask!!!
cst69 03-09-2008, 08:58 PM I think I might try to show up, put me down as "might attend". I could confirm but due to the drama going on right now, who knows! Possibly stay at my bro's house on badin lake as it looks like it is only 15 -20 minutes away. If anyone's interested I might could line up a boat ride if my brother has his pontoon boat in the water by then.
Micmac 03-10-2008, 01:42 AM Sorry guys,
Even though I "instigated" this thing, I have to work the 19th and cannot get out of it. I signed a contract! Mebbe next year
Pete

Longhorn321 03-18-2008, 03:47 PM Just over a month to go!!
PanelDeland 03-23-2008, 05:54 PM Come on April!!!
Woobie 03-26-2008, 03:28 AM OK, just checked with the "Boss" and she's tied up that day teaching a class for work. Soooo, good LORD willing, I'll be there. As the date gets closer, please let me know what I can bring.
Thanks, Paul
67ChevyRedneck 03-26-2008, 04:57 PM Put me down as a maybe:
137 mi – about 2 hours 22 mins
I think the 67 can do that.... but Jena is finishing up grad school and that may be a "moving" weekend... I'm meeting my dad in Carlisle, PA for the weekend the next weekend. For that trip I'll definitely be driving the Z71
Longhorn321 04-02-2008, 04:49 AM Hotels.com has Super 8 as the closest hotel 6.6 mi. Any knowledge of that hotel? I know some super 8s are kinda flea bags but the pic on their website makes it look like a fairly new hotel.....$75.00 well spent or flushed down the toilet?:uhmk: I should also mention that hotels.com rated it at 4.8 out of 5.
OrangeCrush1970 04-02-2008, 04:03 PM Im not sure if Im going to make the trip now. I just chased down an overheating issue! Now that I got my baby back on the road I don't want to push her too hard...not sure if she's up for the 4 hour drive. Might be a last minute decision.
drive something else ;) no excuses!
