View Full Version : Pictures (from hot trux),....
lolife99 01-15-2008, 12:25 PM My buddy Jeff (aka hot trux) wanted me to post a few pics. So here goes,... He's putting a '89-'91 grill in his '85 stepside. Here's a few pics from this weekend. The aluminum radiator will be "sunk" into the core support. All extra holes in the core support will be filled. He has also filled the backside of the front fenders,(all the big square holes),... to make for a smooth look. I'll also include the pic from his avatar. Hope this works!
bigblock73 01-15-2008, 12:28 PM oooooh, man...that is looking sweet! Can't wait to see more pics!

N2TRUX 01-15-2008, 04:13 PM WOW! That's going to be nice. Please keep us posted on the progress...:metal:
LowStep79 01-15-2008, 04:53 PM Very nice! One question... why not a fuel cell instead of the saddle side tank? Preference?
Eyegore 01-15-2008, 05:03 PM Awesome job, love the detail. How bout some close-ups of the frame?
72BlckButy 01-17-2008, 07:59 AM I can't wait to get a closer look of that truck, it's looking good so far!
xtreme80 01-17-2008, 08:21 AM Looks awesome! Keep the pics coming!
lolife99 01-17-2008, 10:17 AM I'll try to get some "close-up" frame shots from hot trux. They'll be posted as soon as I get them.
jchav62 01-17-2008, 10:51 AM Awesome! Can't wait to see more....
texassquarebodies 01-17-2008, 11:57 AM What color red is that???? Thats the sh-t!!!!!!!
lolife99 01-17-2008, 01:30 PM I think it's Dodge Viper red.
Malo83 01-18-2008, 01:48 AM She's gonna be a Beaut!!! :metal:
ChaseDale3and8 01-18-2008, 02:08 AM Very nice! One question... why not a fuel cell instead of the saddle side tank? Preference?
That was the first thought that entered my head as well when I first saw the rolling chassis. With all the shaving that he is doing everywhere else, I never expected to see the tank hanging on the side of the frame! In any case, it is a really sharp looking truck. Can't wait to see what it looks like when completed! Keep us posted. ...Joe
jkaylor68gmc 01-18-2008, 02:30 AM That is very nice!
lolife99 01-22-2008, 08:53 AM Here's a few that hot trux sent me tonight. Just some close up shots. This is the engine and reassembled tilt column.
lolife99 01-22-2008, 08:58 AM Here's an assortment from underneath.
lolife99 01-22-2008, 09:03 AM Here's one of his old show trucks from the Street Machine Nationals. Remember,... this was 1992. Pro Street RULES!
72BlckButy 01-22-2008, 09:07 AM Great pics! Does he have his compressor and tank mounted on the frame yet? That thing is clean enough to eat off of.
Hoods69BadBowTie 01-22-2008, 09:09 AM Wow that looks amazing. Tell him to keep up the good work! I like it.
lolife99 01-22-2008, 09:10 AM Yes they are mounted in the rear where the spare tire would be.
tvblazer78 01-22-2008, 10:05 PM Very clean!!
Malo83 01-22-2008, 11:20 PM Awesome :metal:did he ever consider Tubular A-arms? that would have put it over the top;) keep up the good work
lolife99 01-23-2008, 12:24 AM I don't think this was meant to be a "no expense spared" build. This guy is a normal guy,... (like all of us),... with normal bills. This is just a budget build, (if there is such a thing), with ALOT of attention to detail. All work is being done by Jeff (hot trux), with the exception of the upholstery, in a small shop. Including all wiring, mechanical and paint / bodywork. I think the results are amazing. I guess I'm jealous too. I'll post more pics as I get them.
86swb 01-23-2008, 12:41 AM I think it's Dodge Viper red.
In other words--$$$$$$RED
boxrodz 01-26-2008, 01:24 PM That's a nice build your buddy has going.
Is he planning to share the specs for the stance, drop and wheel size for his 'new' setup'?
lolife99 01-29-2008, 09:24 AM I'll let hot trux answer on the engine. The wheels are 20x8 and 20x9.5 Billet Specialties Vintec's. The air ride is all from Air Ride Technologies. Cool Ride kit up front and air over leaf in back.
higgiec10 01-29-2008, 10:30 AM that,s a clean c10 keep it going
lolife99 01-29-2008, 10:33 AM Here's a few pics from my trip up there today.
lolife99 01-29-2008, 10:36 AM And three more,...
boxrodz 01-29-2008, 01:49 PM I'll let hot trux answer on the engine. The wheels are 20x8 and 20x9.5 Billet Specialties Vintec's. The air ride is all from Air Ride Technologies. Cool Ride kit up front and air over leaf in back.
Thanks for the info.
The build is beautiful... :ito:
72BlckButy 02-14-2008, 08:37 PM I hitched a ride with lolife99 this weekend, and got to take a closer look at hot trux ride... that thing is going to be sweet!
Can't wait to see that thing flying down the highway.

boatpuller 02-15-2008, 01:43 AM "can't type.......... drooling"
lolife99 02-15-2008, 06:56 AM The build has slowed a little. The core support is getting some extra attention. Once the front clip is done,... the wiring will begin. Also the seat and door panels are at the upholstery shop. Hot Trux or I will keep you posted.
Thumpin455 02-16-2008, 12:37 AM That is alot of red! red everywhere...
He does nice work. :)
lolife99 05-03-2008, 06:28 AM I had to make a trip up to see hot trux,... so I snapped these pics tonight. The pics don't due the core support justice. There is a huge number of hours in this thing.
higgiec10 05-03-2008, 07:22 AM that,s going one nice c10 hope to see it done soon
moneyeater 05-03-2008, 09:03 AM Wow-that looks great and i find lots of similarities to mine including the colour!
I wish i had some nice wheels like that and and a little bigger budget!
I´m a little jealous!
manimal 05-03-2008, 04:04 PM That truck is AWESOME!
-Lance

very jealous.
75silverstep 05-11-2008, 04:22 AM lowlife99 can you get me a few things answered ..What headers are those they look like the 3/4 length ones that us low trucks need and also when the rear air ride set up is done can you get some up close pics of it im going the same way and need to have it done by mid june (got a show im trying to make)..thnx..
lolife99 05-11-2008, 04:28 AM I believe they are Patriot "shorty" headers for the Chevelle application. You can PM hot trux or I can try to get some pictures later. His probably won't be done by June.
75silverstep 05-11-2008, 05:13 AM Thanks for the quick response ..Ill be using the bags to just get the axle off the frame when im driving it ..Wasnt sure at its lowest point if they would fit i have a djm c notch so im not sure if i will have to move them close to the eye of the leaf. thx again i will look up the headers..
FRENCHBLUE72 05-12-2008, 11:19 PM Sweeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lolife99 06-29-2008, 10:41 PM Here's a few updated pics. Front fenders are painted and engine/core support wiring and associated parts are going together. Stepside bed work has begun also.
lolife99 06-29-2008, 10:51 PM And the bed work begins,...
68GMC454 06-30-2008, 01:48 AM really good job.. cant wait to see it finished
lolife99 08-11-2008, 10:04 PM Ok,... I got a couple pics from Hot Trux tonight so I thought I would share. The idea of making his truck a stepside has been an expensive one. So far,... Jeff purchased two complete beds, one NOS fender (for almost $400), two 1979(?) take off fenders and steps (the red ones, removed in 1979 and stored), one new GM tailgate,... and a couple extra steps found at a local swap meet,... and the bed is finally coming together as "one unit" for mock up prior to paint. . Also purchased was new bed strips and roll pan from Bruce Horkey Wood Products. Original bedsides will be reworked as will the front bed panel from the second bed. Here's a couple of pics. I'll post the bed in paint when it's done.
lolife99 09-02-2008, 05:26 AM Here's a sneek peek of the interior. Should be nice. (leather :metal:)
S10Fan 09-02-2008, 05:36 AM Here's a sneek peek of the interior. Should be nice. (leather :metal:)
One of the vertical lines looks to be off by 1/64 of an inch. Get that fixed and it will be perfect.
LOL
Looks awesome! I like the design and color.
:metal::metal::metal::metal::metal::metal:
72BlckButy 09-02-2008, 01:06 PM Wow... tell Jeff he spent his money right when he hired that upholster. :D
Lookin' good! I can't wait to see it on the street now... :D
lolife99 09-02-2008, 07:44 PM Nate,... it probably won't be on the street for a while. Jeff has been hitting it pretty hard,... but still alot to do. The upholstery should be killer.
72BlckButy 09-02-2008, 07:54 PM I mean that seat is flawless.... it was definitely worth the money. And the color is perfect!
Might have to stop by and take another look. :D
Rollinsqrbdy 09-02-2008, 09:13 PM killer truck. JUst read the tread. What wheels and size of tires does he have?
lolife99 09-02-2008, 09:21 PM Billet Specialties Vintecs. 20x8 (5.25" b.s.) and 20x9.5 (5" b.s.) with 245/40-20 and 295/40-20 BFG KDW's.
72BlckButy 09-02-2008, 09:28 PM That's odd... someone else is going to run Vintec's on their '77... :D
lolife99 01-24-2009, 02:15 PM Got a couple pics today from Jeff. (hot trux)
He has blown the front suspension back apart to install his new Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms. Thanks go to Jason at www.suicidedoors.com for a great product and quick service.
crawdadfox 01-24-2009, 02:47 PM Truck is looking Awesome!! Super detailed, it tops the Blazer and thats hard to do! :metal:
72BlckButy 01-26-2009, 06:50 AM That arms turned out real nice. Did Theorbrecke Bros PC them red? Or did Jeff paint them after they arrived?
lolife99 01-26-2009, 06:56 AM They are painted. Jeff got them in bare steel.
cochino12 01-26-2009, 08:22 AM Wow, how did I miss this thread? That truck looks amazing so far!
flamingbig10 01-26-2009, 09:28 AM very nice
Malo83 01-26-2009, 10:32 AM She's a Beauty, those tubular Aarms really cleaned up that front end :metal:
silvereagle07 01-26-2009, 11:04 AM That's a sweet ride.
lolife99 03-01-2009, 05:38 PM A few more pics from my buddy Hot Trux.
Doors are hung with new hardware, gaskets, and outside handles. Front Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms are installed. There's just a little more wiring to do before that is finished.
Right now, Jeff is fitting the front inner fenders and modifying them for a custom look. Fenders are painted and Jeff just polished the radiator, so it can be installed.
I forgot to get a picture of all the bolting. It's all chrome plated. (even the door hinge bolts,... and many bolts you won't see.) Most are chrome button head allen bolts.
The detail is incredible.
72BlckButy 03-01-2009, 06:19 PM OMG... that thing is coming right along. Jeff, nice work!
Is there a target date for completion? :D
sswitzke 03-02-2009, 12:24 AM Truck is looking great.
JohnC 03-02-2009, 10:32 AM That is an AWESOME job. Truck is looking amazing. Can't wait to see updates
