i just started posting here after running across this site months ago. anyways, i just stumbled across this section and am loving it.im just a kid building a truck lookin to go fast. heres what it is, feel free to criticize and throw in your input.

its a 69 chevy swb step with a 67 nose on it.
355 stock rods and crank with hyper speed pros for now
ported 882's, roller rocker, isky 292 mega cam. i think its 244 and 525 at 50
victor jr intake and a holley 750 double pumper

built reverse manual valve body th 350
3000 stall

12 bolt with stock 4.10's
superior replacement 5 lug axles
a cheap mini spool
and 28 x 10 hoosier slicks

it weighed 3450 with me in it about 2 years ago and has shed some weight since.

went the the track once, bone stock susp. with a stock 350 and q jet on street tires and popped my track cherry, 14.3 at 87 mph. with a 2.0 60'.since then ive been wrenchin away to see where i can get it. i'll be taking it to the track sat the 2nd and see where it is now with the current mods.

soon i will post some pics and vids of this thing.

i was shocked too.theres nothing as far as a bed floor. no heater acc.,no wheel wells and its a small block. no int, just a seat, shifter and myself. which is 165 lbs.but im gonna swap over to a 496 that im building. once i get that done i'll reweigh it.

that pic of your truck with both wheels like 2 ft. in the air is my new destop backround.lol. love that ****

Not much really.....It has a trailing arm suspension so that helps. DJM 3" front 4" rear springs. Chisolm tubular uppers in the front and Chisolm drop shocks. I am getting ready to convert the rear to coil overs and do away with the 4" springs and drop shocks. I pulled the rear end out of it over the weekend for a rebuild and noticed the factory passenger side upper shock mount is very loose. I can wiggle it around with my hand. It also has a 1 piece driveshaft. There is really nothing "drag race" about the suspension yet. My best 60ft is a 1.63 and when the rear let go, it felt like a 1.55 but I broke well before I hit the 60ft mark.

damn. well they just notified us that our famoso drag strip in bakersfield is having to postpone again cause of rain. sucks cause i was stoked. but i just got my coilovers and 20 gal. fuel cell in, so that'll give me something to do over the weekend. my last 60' ft was a 2.0 on 295/50 street tires. now i have a spool and slicks and higher stall.from what ive read you've got a pretty mean street machine outlaw72.always fun to own the street lights in town.

Couch,

Your close to me.. I'm in Aromas (South of Gilroy) about 2 hours away from you. I was thinking about trying Famoso out as I normally go to Sac. Would be nice seeing another older Chevy Truck in the lane next to me. I need to get up and see BigJim.. Maybe you'd be interested in meeting me on Highway 5 to go haras him.

Trust me when I say that I run with a crowd that has some crazy fast cars. I am not very competitive here and there are not many trucks around these parts set up like mine. Meaning...not too many truck racers here...

She seems to do well for what she is and what she has for a powerplant. I mainly just cruise her around town and then go to the track with all my buddies. There is a video here of me running three races at the track. The first race.....I did not know my competitor. I am very good friends with the last two guys I raced. The TBSS is running some nice times and I use to own the yellow and black camaro.

i was thinkin of doing sac this weekend cause bako cancelled, but i figured i'd do my coilovers and save the gas money. if you frequent either maybe we've been there at the same time. i go to bako more than sac, but am getting fed up with famoso and love how sac is more relaxed and just lets the whole tech inspection thing go real loosely

tech is pretty much a rumor around here I wish the did some so nobody gets killed in some of these death traps!

Couch,

I haven't made it to sac much. I made it a lot more when I had my 01 SS but that was 2+ years ago. I have only been once since I got the truck going. I'm making a bit of changes and really want to et back up there in March some time. I need to get the spray on it first. I'm hoping to get it in the 11's on the motor and 10's on the bottle.

Couch

Couch, your truck is sweet. The way it sits and its stance, with the flat black paint, its badass. :D

Couch
02-03-2008, 09:50 AM
thanks bro. those are some old azz pics. it sits better now that i got some different wheels with a better offset and better sized slicks.but the flat black is and always will be the color of my truck. its just me.my buddies all nicknamed it the "stealth bomber"lol

well we had a little run in with the po po last night at our street turnout. they got all of the honda's.lol. but anyways, tore into the truck today only to find out that i ripped me passenger side shock mount off my trailing arm. so the shock is just free hangin from the cross member.kinda sucks, but ive got the coilovers to replace it all anyways. and im just now realizing how big the notch i got for the truck really is.this thing is gonna sit low and have some travel.cause i slam the rubber stops as of now.i know some of you guys have done this already. am i gonna need to get a adjustable panhard bar and relocate it to the notch?

djracer
02-04-2008, 07:02 AM
I don't know what kind of notch you have but I would try leave at least part of the rear frame there instead of cutting it all out. If you ever want to run any kind of stock suspension class the stock frame might need to be there. I would say you do need an adjustable panhard bar!

Couch
02-04-2008, 07:19 AM
thanks. but no concerns for class. just want the truck to work outta the hole.being that early classic is like 15 min. away i'll get that panhard bar on monday. right now im making the brackets to mount my fuel cell and run my lines

Hey dude i think your truck is sweet. I love the stance an look of the steel wheels and all that. When you put nitrous on it where are you going to mount the bottle?

Couch
02-07-2008, 09:05 AM
thanks again guys.ive got the bottle setup and running, stuff kicks azz. i put it in the bed. but when i mount the fuel cell i might put the bottle behind the seat in place of the factory tank.nitrous is so addicting, i cant even stand a motor pass now.

The rears are a 30x13.50 ET street on a 12" 7.5 back spced draglite. I'm waiting for my 15x6 draglites that are on a UPS truck as I type this..

hey dj racer. couple questions. or anyone else that may have done this. when i go to coilover springs out back am i gonna have a problem clearing my panhard bar? or will it be ok? also dj is that stepside bed and cover still for sell?

djracer
02-12-2008, 10:17 PM
I sold the bed a long time ago. You need a new adjustable panhard bar or new brackets if you already have adjustable then you can relocate if needed. I had a street truck that I just bend the factory bar a little to clear and that worked.

Couch

i was just wondering, i got the adjustable one form ECE. i just wanted to make sure it would all go together smooth. thanks.
