I bought a bunch of stuff from them...all good 57sailplane 02-05-2008, 02:08 PM wish i would of known. i bought one from chassis works it fit so bad that i tried bending it to fit and then it looked like hec. i ended up bending my own from scratch.. 57sailplane 02-05-2008, 02:12 PM oh ya i fogot to tell you that i called there teck guy twice and he said i was installing it wrong. ya ok tell my buddies that seen the pieces and then seen my work. terrible help. probably wont by from again. im sorry to rant but people should no... bigjimzlll 02-05-2008, 10:07 PM I bought the original roll bar from Chris Alston chassis works. The hoop "fit" but that's it. Be warned that all cage kits made from mild steel will use seamed tubing. It will be .134" thick(which is good) and is perfectly legal. When I built my frame/cage I used .120" DOM tubing which is seamless. The DOM is also very heavy. If I was to do it again I would use Chrome Moly tubing and TIG weld. At the time I only had access to a MIG welder. 1970chevy 02-28-2008, 07:02 AM just got my 12 point s&w 1 5/8 dom tube roll cage whats the best way to try it into the frame bigjimzlll 02-28-2008, 08:17 PM I used 2x2 square tubing as out riggers. Plan the location for future stuff, liike exhaust. Also plan the rear down bars to hit the frame rails. One tricky part is the roll bar cross brace. If you put it str8 across the seat will be to far forward. Unless you are small statured you will have to bend the cross tube(where the shoulder harness ties too) to conform with the back of the cab. I'll see if I can find a pic. The reason there are 2 tubes on mne is because the bottom tube is too low...it wouldn't of passed tech, it was easier to leave it then remove it. http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/5/12019554763.jpg (http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5366118) Couch 02-29-2008, 05:24 AM nice setup jim. im gonna copy it here in a little while. but i'd like to keep the factory dash, thinking of running the cross bar under it. but it may be more trouble than its worth djracer 03-04-2008, 05:29 AM mine has the stock dash. you can see pics in my build thread. |
