I have a matching pair or turbos off big diesel truck engines, and was just curious as to what it would take to twin turbo my 68 LWB. And also curious as to how much boost the stock internals of a 6.0 LS- based truck engine could stand up too.

Do these turbos have the waste gate built in to them? Most production turbos do.

Assuming you have the harness, computer ect...

Quick list of parts I know you'll need:
Blow Off Valve
Boost controller
Rod bolts
Injectors
Fuel pump (Walbro 255 should be ok)
HPtuners

As far as power it well it depends on your tune really. Obviously with an intercooler and/or Meth, you will be able to turn it up some more safely. Detonation is your enemy!! I would say you could put 500-550rwhp down fairly safely on the stock shortblock with rod bolts.

I would also keep the stuck truck manifolds and turn them backwards. They flow good and they will never crack. Guys have been in the 8's on them in F-bodies.

I would say around 8 psi to be safe. depends on the compression is it going to be intercolled etc... I recommend you go to this site for more info: http://www.theturboforums.com go to the forums!

You will have to figure out your exhaust system (custom headers usually required - although I just built most of the drivers side turbo header this weekend and it only took about an hour to tack up - BBC with single turbo) You have to be careful with some of the diesel turbos - some don't spool very fast.

This article does a good job of explaining how to set up a turbocharged engine. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/20.shtml
good luck..

Maximum Boost by Corky Bell is a very good read, I would recommend that.

I'm just wondering if there are more people on this board running fuel injection or carbs with thier turbo(s)??

I'm used to tuning 16x16 or larger injection and ignition maps. I'm looking to either boost the carburated 350 I have in there now, or put in an LT1 and boost that. I don't really like the idea of not having direct control over the entire tune, so I am leaning towards the EFI LT1. Any links to articles comparing EFI to Carburated 5.7L SBC's would be appreciated. Most of the banter on the net is 5.0 guys arguing back and forth. From what I gather, carburated has the most peak power potential but EFI gives a better and safer tune overall.

Put it this way, both work very well! I picked up a C & S 950 cfm for about $1100 set up for my engine and for blow trough (still buying parts lol). People really love them! They've come a long way! CSU also sells good carbs.
