How rare is a 1966 LWB 4 wheel drive chevy truck? It has a 6 cylinder motor and some sort of manual transmission.

Its a little rare, you can still find them.

Old 4x4s are pretty rare, expecially 60's and earlier. Most of these trucks were used off road and therefore rusted away quicker than the 2wd trucks. Also, they just made a lot less 4x4s in those days.

Do you have a chance to buy one?

There were 57,386, '66 Chevy C10 (1/2 ton), swb, fleetside trucks produced.

There were 1,123, '66 Chevy K10 (1/2 ton), swb, stepside trucks produced.
There were 678, '66 Chevy K10 (1/2 ton), swb, fleetside trucks produced.

There were 26,456, '66 Chevy C10 (1/2 ton), lwb, stepside trucks produced.
There were 178,742, '66 Chevy C10 (1/2 ton), lwb, fleetside trucks produced.

There were 457, '66 Chevy K10 (1/2 ton), lwb, stepside trucks produced.
There were 1976, '66 Chevy K10 (1/2 ton), lwb, fleetside trucks produced.

There were 9,905, '66 Chevy C20 (3/4 ton), lwb, stepside trucks produced.
There were 55,855, '66 Chevy C20 (3/4 ton), lwb, fleetside trucks produced.

There were 924, '66 Chevy K20 (3/4 ton), lwb, stepside trucks produced.
There were 1,796, '66 Chevy K20 (3/4 ton), lwb, fleetside trucks produced.

As you can see, there were no swb C20 or K20 trucks produced. Also, the swb and lwb K10 trucks were rather low in production numbers and also the lwb K20 trucks were low production runs. If you have a '66 Chevy K10 lwb stepside or fleetside truck, you have a low production number truck.

It is sad to say, but that dosen't look like it is even worth the scrap metal price...I have a 63 2wd in similar cond., a few well placed dents, and some rust about kills these trucks....

I really need a set of factory 4x4 engine perches for a 4-5-6 Chevy Truck K10 or K20. Any chance you can snag them from this rig?

Hey Tony, Are you looking for perches for a six cylinder or a V-8, there is a difference on the right hand perch for the six cylinder, it is shorter and is moved back farther than the V-8. I have bought trucks that came with 6 cylinders that some one changed to a V-8. They removed the rivets and moved the perch foword but it is to short and puts a strain on the bolt that holds the engine. I hope this helps.

If the frame isn't torqued I'd strip the body off of it and put a new one on. 60's 4x4's are getting harder and harder to find.

That's my thoughts as well. Cut the frame down to a swb, pick up a bed, get a cab, work on the front clip that's there and paint it light blue. Throw the 16.5's on it with a fresh set of Traxion bias-ply mud grips....... mmmm, mm!

The light blue is in rememberance of dads '66. wish we would have kept that one...... :sigh:

however, I think that one is d.o.a. too bad.

Factory V8, but I am getting pretty desperate, so I would settle for either V8 or six cylinder.
