Anyone know of a company that sells many color choices of satin? Something I may be able to pickup at Advanced Auto or Auto Zone or Napa? Thanks!

Yeah, I know TCPGlobal, I have bought a bunch from them. Buuuut, I dont know what primer to get or which urethane etc. to get. Can anyone help me figure out which primer, thinner, paint mixture etc. to get?

call them and ask them what they suggest ... i would think they know more about their own product than anyone else

p.s. you're not gonna get quality paint at AutoZone or Advance

Just get regular automotive paint and add a flattening agent to the clear. That's how my truck is done.

Never. Thats the cheap way. I've seen people do that and buy Satin, Satin looks MUCH better.

its just advice and can be used or ignored...
I'd say call and figure what is needed, never settle! get EXACTLY what you want or you'll never be satisfied with a lousy paint job

That is an "apples/oranges" comparison at best.
If the Base/Clear jobs you have seen did not have enough flattener, it is not the product's fault. Who says that Base/Clear is "cheap" in comparison to Single Stage anyway?

Exactly what do you think that "satin" (as in premixed) is?
Unless you are talking about a "Single Stage" color, rather than Base/Clear?

If so, delete the underlined portion of ratrod67's suggestion.

"Factory Pack" single stage satin is the same thing. Just because you or your supplier didn't add the flattener, doesn't mean that someone else didn't.
Besides, if you do it yourself, you have far more control over color choice. You are not stuck with what they offer.

That is still no guarantee that the job looks good. Prep work and technique/skill play a part too.

The guys over at hamb spray base coat with no clear. They say it is easy to do and will spot in well...

I can't say how it works but they seem to think it's a good option.

But you want to purchase it at Advance or AutoZone? You won't find the type of paint to do it "right" at those stores.

Check for an O'Reilly Auto Parts in your area. They are my full-time supplier for DuPont.

Don't just spray base. That WILL NOT last without clear. Base is not meant to be left uncleared.

Exactly right^^^ Not only is the base coat to "thin" to stand any kind of use, it does not have any kind of sun blocking protection. It will fade, peel and/or wear right off.

That's probably why the H.A.M.B guys like it.;)
