I would like to start planning a meet in Central VA. One reason is i live there, but also, we could get people from NVA, MD, parts of WV, Tidewater, and Northern NC to drive within a reasonable time frame. I would be willing to search around for hotels and have connections w/ Hampton Inn which are pretty nice while not very cheap. I would be meeting w/out my truck unless we do something in August or September to give me some time to work on it. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, I go almost weekly now to a cruise-in show on Friday nights at a golf/batting cage/putt putt place on Ironbridge Rd in Chesterfield (Readily accessible to I-95, Rt288, and Chippenham pkwy). THey are also adding go-karts to be ready next year. But there are around 75-100 cars there weekly. Last week there was a nice 69 stepside there. But there's everything from Model T's to custom rods to new corvettes w/ nice mods. Plus, it's a nice family place with food, golf, and batting cages. The show is open to whoever wants to show their ride and each person gets entered to win a raffle they hold weekly. Hope to see some of you there one Friday night. Post on here if you plan to go and give me a call at 804-306-6753. I am also open to going to other cruise-ins if anyone knows of larger ones in VA.

Went to the car show again at Ironbridge Sports park and saw several nice trucks. A 1971-72 that was in black primer that passed by me as i was walking through the show, a nice blue and white 71 with a lot of original parts, a 67 that i glanced at on my way to a 68 and when i came back was gone, and a BEAUTIFUL two tone gold/white 68 that was just awesome. Guy did a frame off in 6 months about 3 yrs ago. Had 20K into it and that was w/out any labor. Paint was awesome, engine bay was clean enough to eat off of, wood bed was beautiful, and it was mostly original with a few nice touches. I was with my family and my parents came so i couldn't drool over the trucks as long as i wanted but hope the same ones are there next week so i can ask some more questions. Hope to see some of you there next week. I am willing to drive to other meetings in VA if people will post them up.

I'll try and go down to Ironbridge sometime. What time do people start showing up? A meet would be cool. I'm flexible on the date but later is better for me too. I need to get one of my trucks driveable.

Cool, let me know what you'll be driving and PM me if you want my cell phone #. The sign says it goes from 5-10 but the most cars are there from 6:30 to 8:30. IF you're going to show a vehicle, you need to get there early as they have been giving a free raffle ticket for prizes each week just for those showing their vehicles.

If you have it around South Boston or South Hill, Farmville or thereabouts I could make it depending on the date.

Just joined this site today and found this...Sounds like I need to get the K/5 on the road by this spring. I'd be interested in a mini meet of some sort...and, I live 45min from the cruze ur talking about, so I will have to check that out next year as well...

I'm working on mine as well so let's get started planning something. Is Richmond a good location for everyone as it could bring people from all over the state within a few hours? I am game for a Tidewater, Lynchburg, or Northern VA meet also, but I think Richmond would be good because it is so central.

TTT for meet ideas for the 24th-26th. I assume the cruise in on Rt10 will be up and running again on Friday nights and I think there's one in Hopewell on Sat nights if everyone wanted to meet up at those and park together. Those w/out their trucks done could also bring another ride to show or sit w/ the group showing their truck.

Sorry to hear that...hope you get it up and running soon. I think there will be several without a truck coming to meet. I still encourage all those who want to come to come no matter how you get there. We're planning these meetings around other events so we can meet each other but also enjoy something for all of us. Plus, the ones without trucks can look at the trucks there and the ones with trucks generally like showing off their handywork....:chevy:

Right where the show is there is Pamplin Historical park (a battlefield) but then it's about 20 minutes till you get to the nearest mall (Southpark) which has a bunch of stores/activities/movies, etc. around. If you let me know what you're looking to do I can give you a list of places to do it :chevy:

I'm game on meeting at the show. When and where? I've never been to the VMP.

VA72C10
04-13-2009, 01:35 PM
I'm pretty sure most people are thinking Saturday...I haven't been in a few years and I'm sure that with the slow economy things are down, but there were a ton of vendors and a large swap meet the last time I was there. A few hundred show cars and trucks and some pretty good drag racing.

04-13-2009, 02:35 PM
Cool, thanks VA72C10. I need some pulleys to finish a friends truck. It's been a long time since I've been to a SCS. I'm taking my family up to Virginia on Thursday. We are going to some historical sites and the show on Saturday.

Since you'll be in the area Friday night with the family, there's a cruise-in at Ironbridge sports park off Ironbridge Rd in Chester 23831. They have driving range, batting cage, mini-golf, and go-karts and the cruise in usually has well over 100 cars/trucks.

silvereagle07
04-13-2009, 09:04 PM
Thanks VA72C10. That sounds like a lot of fun. I wish my truck was ready. I guess I'll drive my Trailblazer. What time do they usually start?
