Thank you very much for getting the word out early. Now if you can pick a date I will know when to put up a date for mine that will not put them 2 weeks apart. I am shooting for 3ed weekend in July (July 20, I think)

Liz

usually the nat meet is the weekend after the 4th of july. this is purely a guess ATM as we have no official dates yet :) imho its to hot then but its also the easiest for folks with kids etc to get vaca and travel. we will let you know as soon as we do

Straight shot down I-81 from Ontario to Kingsport. Excellent. Next year should be very doable, if everything lines up right we will be travelling with a family of four though. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Our plan is that Sharon will be off work on maternity leave, we are lucky and get 1 year of subsidized pay from the goverment (60% of our previous year's income). At last year's meet she was just finishing off her mat. leave.

Hopefully I can make that one and bring 70cstjr with me. With a little luck my truck should be done. Lets see...I took my truck into the body shop 1/08 so that would make it 7/09...Maybe it will be done. ;)

I think you're right. I went and hung out with Robb and got to see his place awhile back. It will be a neat place to hold a meet and he has a Chevy lovers dream house. I won't spoil it for you as everyone needs to experience it for themselves. Can't wait for the year to pass so we can get started. I plan to drive Big Orange.

I, too have been to Robb-ville and I will agree with Ron. Next to Dollywood, it is a MUST VISIT destination.
Being that close to Knoxville, I will go ahead and say I am in. We got family there, and need a reason to visit!

Members who are already thinking of "Too far for me" Nashvegas is a Southwest
hub. (You know "Ding" & "Want to get away") I drive right through it and would
carry as many as I can to this meet. (If I had enough interest I'd also be willing
2 rent a 15 passenger van from Enterprise. (If we can split up the cost a lil bit)
So if this IS where it IS and your even considering it, then think about this offer. :D

No offense taken. With gas prices what they were and my being in the middle of nowhere, I was pleased with the turnout. Hope to see you next year at board meet 2009.

Its even further away from the people out west than last year. I would only want to go to one of these things if I could drive one of my trucks. Maybe in 2010 if there is enough interest it could be a little more centralized. Then again maybe the largest concentration of board members is in the general area of Tennessee?

It does look like you guys have fun at the meets. Im sure Ill hit one of em some year even if it ends up on the Atlantic coast..lol

Hey i am fairly new here all. but if its a central one you want i could talk to my boss at the tulsa raceway park and see about having it there in 2010 or later, and if not my 3.75 acres will hold a good number of trucks and tents and provide a great deal of entertainment for everyone also, and if need be im sure my neigbor would let us run onto his land (10 acres) also as we have a good relationship, and it doesnt get much more central then NE oklahoma. just a thought. 2009 looks like a possible go for me too that would be an awesome trip in the truck when its complete.

Liz

We did a central one the first year. the reason they are located on the east coast is because in the end Josh and I end up having to plan and or do alot to plan them (rons was a major exception in that aspect and amazingly well done by the zoo crew). It is all but impossible for us to be able to plan something on the west coast when we live on the east and have tons to do outside the site with the kids.
We have asked time and time again for the west coasters to go ahead and plan a west coast nat meet and noone has come forward to do so.

I do feel badly for ya'll, but it is not possible at this time for us to do one that way.

Well said Lizzie :D

There is ALOT of work that goes into pulling off an event this big.

I am not against one somewhere in the middle, or the west, but like
she mentioned nobody wants to step up and be responsible for it all.

Maybe 2010 is the year that we move West of the Mississippi river?

But if it's going to happen there needs to be a group willing to host.
(Yes I said group cause it takes EVERYONE's efforts to make it work)

It take me 9 months of planning, lining up a date, getting the food
catered, planning the days events, etc........ just to do my annual
"Meet and Greet" in the fall and that's for around 25-45 people

At this point in time we have decided against a 2009 site sponsored NBM. We are unable to dedicate the time or means to successfully put on a site wide meet this year. Family obligations and time restrictions have brought us to this decision. It saddens us to have to announce this, and we apologize to anyone who was planning to attend.
