I'm planning a short vacation to visit a buddy of mine in Greensboro. We have tickets to the NASCAR race on the 11th. I would like to do some golfing, fishing and anything else I can find. I think one college basketball game is possible. Clemson vs Wake Forest

Anyone live near Winston-Salem? Greensboro?
Are there any local tracks?

Dont know of any there. Just Dunn/Benson and Rockingham.

PanelDeland lives in greensboro and could probably give you some good information about that area. Pinehurst and Southern Pines are a little over an hour away, and are known for the golf courses. I lived in that area for a while and there are many around. Fishing is everywhere, you need a license though, most parks will issue you a license on the spot and they sell them at wally world etc as well.

Thanks for the info. A board member from another site has offered to take us fishing. If we stay in Charlotte, we may go fishing in Asheville.

I use to live in Winston-Salem.....if you are looking for some small race track
stuff, try Bowman Gray Stadium...i think they run modified's and other races there...it's a small asphalt track....not sure of your pocket book, but Tanglewood Park has a PGA style course...supposed to be pretty nice....if you are in Charlotte and like nascar shop tours...there is plenty of those...good luck and have fun....
