My boss called late this afternoon.

I'm dispatched to move a tool trailer Mon. morning from a "shop" to a local refinery.
It's a "4 hour minimum", which is more than I've worked all this month.
I'm happy for that.

But talking to the boss on the phone, it sounds like the company is just about to go "Tango Uniform."
Not a good thing.

No matter what the government says, there IS age discrimination & I'm pushing 62 & thinking about an early retirement; because, other than Wally World, or Mickey D's, I'm virtually unemployable.

Mods: If this post even starts to go, or look political; LOCK IT, or delete it!!!!!

Dood, David is thinking of folding? What is Mike doing? Unfortunatly They are getting rid of our drivers @ my shop within the next few months... all of them!

He hasn't had a truck out in weeks.
I'm moving that tool trailer for PMI Mon., Hodges & 1, or 2, other semibottoms are going out Mon. & that's it.
I think the only reason he's held on this long s because he's been doing REAL good @ the poker table & subsidizing the company w/ his winnings; but that's just between you & I. (& 47K other folks)

Mike's been driving 1 of his own 10 wheelers over @ Tesoro; got a long term gig, luckily for him.

when I was laid off a couple years ago.. Walmart wouldn't even hire me.. I was over qualified! I mowed lawns and did landscaping till I found this job.. hope it makes it though these times...

I knew he was slow, didn't realize it was that slow. Glad Mike has work tho.

Good for you El Jay, thought about over the road or dedicated runs?? My sister ran over the road for a few years and is thinking about getting back out there in next few months, being away sucks, but she is a loner type so it works for her? I hope it is the beginning of a few more jobs for ya! BTW Early retirement only lowers the SS by a few hundred a month (some folks only a $100 or so) so it may be worth looking into, then the odd jobs are just gravey. Good luck!
