I know alot of you have it bad, and I feel for you. Well today I got
the notice that effective March 2nd my hours will be cut back. It's
in no way as bad as some of your stories here, but I have been in
this place for 18 years and we have seen it slow before. Last time
was in 91, but we never reduced our hours. (It was also bad in 97
but we never even got this slow or made cuts) we've never had a
layoff, actually we have a no layoff policy, but back in 91 we took
the top 20 absentee problem peeps and let them go. I think this is
their next step and I will hate it for those families involved. Felt as
if I needed to get this off my chest, I've never been worried in the
past but as bad as things are getting, we all need it to turn around
rather quickly or I think a lot of the American people will loose hope.

My entire firm of 25 or so people was on 36 hour weeks starting in September. When they laid me off, they cut everyone else to 32 hour weeks. I talked to a guy that still works there and they are still on 32 hour weeks, he says it's getting slower every week, and he thinks a couple more people will be going soon.

Things are not going to get better until the people who are working get out there and spend money, but they're afraid to because they're afraid they're going to lose their job. Hell, put me back to work, I've got a list of about 5K in truck parts and tools I want to buy! I'll stimulate the crap out of the economy
