View Full Version : Parting out my 61'
Chevysdominate 03-08-2009, 06:35 PM I bought this truck about a year back for the side trim and now I'm tired of seeing it sit and go to waste. I was going to get it running, but when i got the motor running it smoked to much for my taste and i lost interest in getting driving.
The windshield trim is in very good condition, the doors are in good condition, the hood has rust in all the normal stops, but is basically dent free. The hood inserts are in great condition. The fenders are in ok shape but might need some rust repair. The instrument panel and gauges are in good condition as well. Lots of good parts on the truck. I'll be keeping the rear inner fenders and the tailgate.
I'm willing to take offers on everything so if the prices you see are to high make an offer:)
Window trim - 100$
Finders - 75ea$
Hood w/inserts and emblems - 125$
Gauge cluster - 75$
Doors - 100ea$

Let me know if you need better pics or if can clarify something for you. Some things are a pain to ship, but I'm willing to work out whatever shipping arrangements necessary. Local pickup is always welcome and preferred.

bosephus 03-09-2009, 02:22 AM how much for the inner grill?Condition? Also would like the C and T dash knobs
ScottH 03-09-2009, 09:39 AM I would be interested in the front bed panel depending on condition & cost including shipping to 08753.
Thanks.
bosephus 03-09-2009, 02:10 PM how much for the inner grill?Condition? Also would like the C and T dash knobs
Also, how much to ship d.side door to 78382 thanks!
bosephus 03-09-2009, 02:32 PM Just spied the radio delete, might as well add that if the clips are still good
Strodder 03-09-2009, 02:49 PM What would you want for the 4 head light bucket's, seal beams and all the hardware? Is there much rust on them? I don't need any grill parts.
Chevysdominate 03-09-2009, 05:24 PM Any better pictures of the steering wheel?
Heres some pics for you. The center part has some cracks but would be covered buy the horn button. The wheel were the spokes meet it have a few small cracks too.
Chevysdominate 03-09-2009, 06:01 PM how much for the inner grill?Condition? Also would like the C and T dash knobs
I've included some pics of the inner grill section. Its in pretty good shape and has no major dents. I would take 30$+shipping?
I'm not ready to separate the dash nobs just yet unless you're interested in the whole set. Its only missing the original cig lighter and I'd like to keep it whole for now. If no one shows interest in the set in the next few days I'll separate them.
The radio delete is in perfect condition and the clips are in good shape as well. I'll take 15$ shipped for it. Free shipping if including with other items.
I think the only shipping options for the door would be truck freight or greyhound. If greyhound works it would be between 60-100 to ship. I'll have to check on shipping for the door if going truck freight.
Chevysdominate 03-09-2009, 06:11 PM What would you want for the 4 head light bucket's, seal beams and all the hardware? Is there much rust on them? I don't need any grill parts.
The buckets are in great shape with only a little surface rust. I would do 60 + shipping for them if there not a pain to take off. I've haven't disassembled a 61 grill yet so i'm not sure how much time is involved taking the buckets off the grill.
Chevysdominate 03-09-2009, 06:16 PM I would be interested in the front bed panel depending on condition & cost including shipping to 08753.
Thanks.
The panel on the 61 has some major rust issues in one of the corners that would require a fair amount of repair. I have a few other front bed panels but there at another house across town. I can get a few pics of them in the next day or two for you.
Arekusu 03-09-2009, 07:48 PM I know people are looking at grill parts but I'm looking for
the whole grill
The hood latch (should be a vertical pull type)
and the chevy emblem off of the hood.
How much to 87111 ?
Thanks!
ScottH 03-09-2009, 08:09 PM Thanks for letting me know on the front bed panel, no hurry, whenever u get the chance to check on the others is fine.

Would you do $60.00 shipped without the seal beams. That would make them a lot lighter.

Let me get the grill off first before i commit, but 60 shipped sounds fair. You got a zip code so I can check shipping. Thanks.

It seems like this grill is going to be parted out. I do have a perfect 61 chrome grill that's missing the center piece. Its on my 65 right now. I'm going to use a 64-66 grill on my 65 anyway. The 65 wont be on the road until its done, so i guess i dont need the grill anymore. If interested let me know and i can get some pics up.
The hood latch and emblem will stay with the hood for a few days. If there's no interest in the hood i will separate them for you.
6863m 03-09-2009, 10:58 PM I would be interested in both doors if they don't require much welding on the bottom. I have one door that I am going to have to do quite a bit of welding to fix. I would be interested in both doors if they are in reasonable shape. I have a 62.

One door might be spoken for at the moment, but the passenger side door is in ok shape. Doesn't look like it needs much welding but probably a little. Shipping buy greyhound to San Diego looks to be about $50-$75 each door.
6863m 03-10-2009, 12:04 AM The passenger door I have needs welding in the corner so we are probably the same. I really need the drivers door. If it does not work out for the drivers door email me a picture and I will probably take it.

Chevysdominate 03-10-2009, 02:19 PM Steering wheel already sold???
The steering wheel isn't sold as of today. 94tx showed some interest but i haven't heard back yet. If i dont hear back from 94tx today then you would be next in line if your still interested. Thanks.
I am interested in the steering wheel, any idea what you want for it? My main concern right now is I have a '72 or '70 steering column in my truck. Any idea if this wheel would fit?
Captainfab 03-10-2009, 11:40 PM I'm interested in the grill center if bosephus doesn't take it. I'm also interested in the headlight bezels.

I'm not sure if the wheel will fit the later model column, but maybe someone can comment on that aspect. If you still want it I'll do $40 shipped to Houston.

It could use a little more cleanup, but its very complete. One of the heater control cables was cut, but the others are all there. The fan was working last summer when i got it running. I would do $115 shipped for all of it. One thing not pictured but included is the dash vents if you need them.

I was under the impression from you that you were not going to sell the knobs seperate unless there was no interest in the set. I was interested in all of them, but you didn't offer them to me. Am I missing something here?

I ended up wanting to keep the 2 speed wiper system whole and the matching lock set (2 door, glove box, ignition) whole instead of keeping the dash knobs in a set. There was enough people interested in the knobs separately, so i decided to separate them and the first people that showed interest got first dibs. Sorry, I should have maybe used different words to describe what my intentions were.

I received them today.....thanks Joseph for the quick shipping. You did an outstanding job of packaging them. ;)
Strodder 03-20-2009, 09:43 AM Hey Joeeph, I just thought about what else I need. It's the upper radiator support bracket. The one that is in the top middle of the radiator. If you didn't ship my headlight buckets yet can put them in the same package. If you have that bracket, what would you want for it?

Yes that sounds OK. Let me know.
Strodder 03-20-2009, 08:19 PM Thanks Joe, I got the package today. Thanks for sending it so quickly. I looked at the pictures of the radiator at the beginning of this thread, and it doesn't look like you have that radiator bracket. The 65 V-8 must have a different set up.
Thanks again,
Dennis
joe231 03-20-2009, 11:23 PM ST, the earlier trucks had flanges on the sides of the radiator that bolted to the core support.

lil_red_farmer_boy 03-26-2009, 11:01 AM Do you still have the fenders still and are they any good?
Chevysdominate 03-26-2009, 01:31 PM Got my parts today,Thanks!Has anyone gotten the vent knobs/cables yet?
The vents and knobs for the 61 are going into my 65. I'm not sure if they are a direct bolt in, but i like the cable pull knob system better then the lever.
Chevysdominate 03-26-2009, 01:33 PM Do you still have the fenders still and are they any good?
The fenders are in OK shape. Probably need some rust repair on the usual lower rear panel. I think I'll have tomorrow off so I'll try to get them off the vehicle and i can get a better idea what condition there in.
gostranger 03-26-2009, 05:28 PM did you have any time to look at the tail gate?

The fenders are in OK shape. Both of them will need some rust repair at the bottom corner at the doors. I'll be removing the fenders along with a few other pieces this weekend. I'll take a better look at them and get some more pictures up.
