i just got outta the army 7 months ago...
now im regretting ever leaving..
to b ehonest i was happy but somehwo convinced myself it would be the best thing for my family ever....
wow.. suuurrrpprrriiiseee..
the company i work for... is a subcontractor, iinterviewed to "troubleshoot and repair" wind turbines..
7 months.. havent done it once..
also tired of seeing highschool dropouts and druggies earn more money then i do... and do less work..

i got "laid off" friday because of turmoil with ONE person.. out of 40... this lady dosnet even know my face.. dosent know my work.. dosent know my family life, but called me while i was taking vacation and was rude and disrespectful..
then began telling the upper echelon that she's "gonna get rid of me no matter what"...
it's gotten progressivley worse because this entire time she has not had any ammo on me.. but my father's been sick ad ive been struggeling financially...
so i requested a week off from work..

and the latest was i was "asleep in a connex with my feet propped up on a cooler".... on a day there was no chance in hell of me getting any down time..
soooo.. i called HR to find out where my 5 month overdue par raise was..
and the immediatley set in on me and declared the easiest solution for the problem was removing me from the facility... wow..
ill be called bac in the "near future" for another jobsite and go back to climbing towers again.. but there is no real indiation for when i'll actually be recalled...

im NOT innocent.. but ive ben struggeling with life and being acivillian lately and asked for some grace and help... and was promised some help and time off.... so.. whiel hearing all of this from said employer i took their word..
and now .. as usual iw as let down..
im soo sick of the wind industry..

Any chance of re-upping? May not be the best, but steady pay and a career is great in these times??

either re-up or get my disability to go higher..
i only have 14 years to go...
been with my wife ten years... that's gone by in a blink of an eye...
so what's 14 years ? and well i still have an undying love for the army... not for the idiots.. but for the army...

There are supposed to build another wind farm in the Columbia River Gorge area. Not sure if you really want that info though.
If I didn't freeze up at those heights, I'd being chasing an electrical job there.

It's not the turbines, it's all the damn politics in companies. I was with Allied Signal in Tucson, Hewlett Packard in Oregon, Agilent in Colorado, and now Woodward in Colorado. Every company, large or small, has some "good-old-boy" network, or some general hag that is a general pain in the behind to whomever they decide they don't like. I've been fortunate in the last 6 years to have built a relationship with the old boy network, and get stuff done that nobody else is will to or can get done. Just gotta keep plugging away.
The wind farm in NE Colorado, near Peetz, was looking for a couple techs a week or so ago.
Good Luck.

I feel personally that this wind farm 'boom' may not last. I know, I know, green power and anything for that matter 'green' is good. I work in Hydroelectric power and the System Operators we produce for don't like wind-power because well... Mother Nature isn't predictable...

You know, cruising along and all of the sudden the wind picks up to greater than 20 mph (they don't work at high-winds) or the wind quits altogether... Bam, gotta suddenly cover 1,000 MW all at once. We have to keep Steamer Plants idling to keep 'spinning reserves' equal to the wind that's online.

Maybe another training program or the Army... Good luck man and I'm sorry.
