View Full Version : Houston GTG
BACKYARD88 03-27-2009, 01:17 PM I'd really like to see the Houston area folks have another GTG. I haven't met up with anyone since the last swap meet we invaded. My place isn't really ready to host a meet yet so I'm trying to think of somewhere we can meet that won't cost anything. I know with the poor economy it'd be best to do something as local and cheap as possible. If anyone has any ideas let me know and I'll be trying to come up with something as well. I'm going to be at the Niftee 50ees show Saturday evening and Gatordrag the first weekend of May if anyone wants to meet up and shoot the bull then. Otherwise, I'll be trying to come up with something for us to do, I'll put up a poll when I nail down a place to figure out when would be best for everyone.
olskoolchevy 03-28-2009, 10:53 AM Mike, I'd like to see a gtg myself. I'd like to get to know some more of the members. I haven't taken my truck out in a while since I'm in the middle of rewiring it. But I should be done soon and ready to go. So let me know if you figure out a place to have it. And by the way, what's going on with the nifty 50s this evening?
BACKYARD88 03-29-2009, 10:47 PM I don't know what happened with the Niftee 50ees. I went but there weren't a whaol lot of folks there, still some nice rides though. I should have DD on the road in a few weeks so hopefully we can put something together soon.
Dadsredwagon 04-02-2009, 08:19 PM hey ya'll nifty fiftees will get big real soon, many dont know it back in action I'm planning on being at the tomball lions car show on 04/19 good show ..

olskoolchevy 04-03-2009, 06:04 AM I'm planning on going to Pate. Haven't been in a few years, looking forward to it. Hopefully, I can find me a 3 3/8" gauge to go in my dash bezel.
BACKYARD88 04-06-2009, 05:04 PM Pate is the same weekend as Gatordrag so I don't know If I'll make it or not:(
olskoolchevy 06-27-2009, 04:52 PM Hey Mike! How was Gator Drag? We got rained out at Pate and I meaned rained out. It flooded. We tried to stay but I had the stroller with 2 of the kids with a couple of clear ponchos over it but the water was up to my ankles and didn't act like it was gonna let up anytime soon. So we had to give it up.
BACKYARD88 06-29-2009, 11:32 AM Didn't make it to Gatordrag or Showdown. Mom bought a house so I've been spending every free min. I have getting it fixed up for her. All I have left now are the two bathrooms and some stuff outside. Hopefully I'll get finished up before Heatwave.
texanidiot25 07-11-2009, 11:43 AM Nifty 50s is around Champion's forest, 1960 are this year right?
I should go tonight
BACKYARD88 08-12-2009, 03:28 PM I'm ready to do something guys. I've been seeing a lot of other areas having meets that I normally go to but can't afford right now. We need to do something in our area. I'd really like to start palnning something now so we'll have some time to get more people involved. My place isn't much to look at but if that's what it takes to get everyone together I'd be glad to have everyone over. I'd like to get atleast one or two people on board with me to help kind of set everything up, I've never organized something from scratch before so opinions will be needed:D I'm going to start a fresh thread so I can start getting some imput on dates and such.
J_PEPIN87 08-15-2009, 01:52 PM Im down for the gtg
texanidiot25 08-17-2009, 02:13 PM I'm up for it as always!
Still dig the drive-in idea. Tons of parking, loads of time to hang out (doors open at 7, movies start past 9). And only $5 per person
Houston54 08-19-2009, 05:26 PM No drive in for me. It is a gravel lot and the last thing I want is someone throwing rocks around be it little kids or goofs spinning their tires. Been out there once with the suburban and have the marks to prove it. The 54 is not going in there.
Also, the movie sound track is broadcast to your radio so if you do not have one you better be good at lip reading and doing your own sound effects.
I would suggest Spring Creek Park just north of Tomball or some other similar place.
Dadsredwagon 08-24-2009, 08:12 PM not a bad idea for Spring creek park pretty big area, I did take some pics of Burroughs park. they have a pavlion area, I sooo ready , let me see what I can find out about the place.
