I wouldn't say there is a best. But there is alot of top shelf stuff. Rage extreme,Rage gold, marson platinum and platinum plus, 3m premium gold QBA. Stay away from cheap stuff, department store automotive section crap. The good stuff is $30+ a gallon.

rage extreme is near the top but can't say it is the best. There a different fillers for different needs as well.

X3 i used many in my years of doing bodywork.I used evercoats chromalite, used rage extreme,I will never go back to anything else except using rage extreme.

I also use USC ICING as a poleyster glazing putty over that to smooth out any minor imperfections .I never have to sand with anything coarser then 80 grit paper.

thanks

Put it on, whack it down with 80, use the ICING then hit it with 80 then 100 grit and wala PERFECT!!!!!!!!! I have done this technique many many times and my 70 vert was done the same way 8 years ago and no shrinkage or sand scratch swelling. And I AM A PAINTER BY TRADE!!!!!!

I use E'coat myself too but the only ***** I have is them cheesing out with only 2/3 of a gallon.
A lot of guys are going with Marson Platinum.
I've not use the Platinum but the regular Marsons was a little tough to sand.
They say the Platinum is easier and I'm trying some next.
Ive seen it all at varrious bodyshops,Dynalite,to real Bondo but I understand as most are run by a cheap skate owner or do mainly insurance work and have to make up for it "someplace".

On a side note. I bought some rage extreme back on May of 08. I used a bit of it and sealed it back up.. It sat in the garage and im about ready to start using it again.. Is it bad???? How long does that stuff last for?

As long as its sealed tight and no air got into it it should be good to go.I know some dont last if the seal isnt tight.Just stir it up and get the resin mixed in cause if it isnt mixed and you put hardner to it it wont cure properly and then you`ll have to scrape it off and reapply.NOT FUN :waah:

Yeah, Just use a paint stiring device in a drill and mix WELL.
Only "issue" may be the hardner.
I always "work" the tube some,ok vintage here's your opening, so's to mix the components well everytime I use some and if it's as old as the Rage,i'd try some first and make SURE it hardens the filler.
I just went thru this with some SMC resin and the cream hardner was weak and did not cure the resin completly. I let it set out in the sun for a couple of days and it was cured enough to sand the crap off but I ended up using several disks to remove it, Real bummer for sure.
