Hey DAC, where's Brian? I haven't heard from him in a while.

Hi 68C15,

I talked to Brian a month or so ago and he has a new job working at the Speed Center here in Rapid. His boss has a '72 C1500 for sale but just can't buy another truck right now. Due to unfortunate circumstances I haven't been able to be around Rapid much lately and I haven't checked his public profile to see if he is at least able to be reading here.

Naw, farmers went together years ago and formed a cooperative for several years, then was sold to the then manager, hadn't been a GMC dealer since I can remember. (I'm a 67 model) All ag stuff since, I worked there a couple years in the early 90's. They closed about 10-12 years ago. The lone mechanic bought the shop and still fixes tractors. Ain't much to Draper anymore. Every now and then I see an old truck or pickup with a Rankin Implement sticker. Pretty cool. Ya probably didn't want the Whole history but what the hell I'm killin' time til "miller time"

When you say I90 wrench you must mean right there in the service station visible from the interstate! I think I seen your trucks today (Sunday 17th). One of my daughter's best friends was killed over by Oakaton last week in an accident on I-90 and she didn't want to drive back to college in Aberdeen. Yesterday my wife drove her in her car and I followed them with the wifes van. She finally got some confidence back and drove on in to Aberdeen from Plankinton. We spent the night up there and headed home around noon. Woulda been fun to stop in and shoot the bull but had to get back, and have been home about 2 hours! We went thru Pierre on the return trip today and would have liked to have a few beers with SDKid but the time factor and the element of suprise wouldn't have worked.

Heck some people say there should be "West South Dakota and East South Dakota" as their own states since the river cuts us clean in half!! Kinda dumb. I would imagine if you totaled up the population of both states that wouldn't even add up to one "normal" state and that's fine with me! I guess it don't bother me as long as it is stated plural! At least here it is called North and South Dakota! LOL

Hey I90wrench, I know this is a long time ago to remember if you even worked there at the time. In 1999 a couple of days after Christmas I filled up there at about 7 at night. There was a damm blizzard going pretty good. I was driving my white '72 GMC pulling a trailer with a '70 Monte Carlo on it. I was coming back from DesMoines, Iowa where I loaded up the car. I chatted with the attendant, I'd say about 10 years younger than me or early 30ish at the time, but I had to get going. Weather was real bad and I could only go 35 or so due to the load, visibility and probably a 50 mph headwind! The poor ol 350 had been 13 years since an overhaul then and it's still in the truck! I had to fill up again at Wall but once I got to the top of the hill west of Wasta the snow let up a lot. The wind continued. It wasn't near as bad and made it home OK.

Yeah I have painted a s%*tload of billboards thru the years but unless you own your own billboard(s) or access to some, you will probably have to deal with one of the outdoor advertising companies that have structures leased from the landowners in areas where you desire to have your message in. There ain't a lot of "legal" new billboard locations out there. Maybe some of the landowners that have interstate frontage can tell you how they have to deal with the outdoor advertisers.

Yea those are good, I've had "The Bloody Knuckle" in back of my head. Years ago an old fart told me of a bar down in Wood called the Bloody Bucket, I guess it was kinda rough:lol:. Also 70gmc, I do have a couple billboards, they're needing some TLC. PM me sometime, won't do nothing til spring has a good toehold and extra cash, but am interested. I would be cool to see a Rankin Imp. sticker, Badlands or Missouri river cruise would be cool. Pioneer Auto Museum has a swap-meet, classic car auction in may, beer will be flowin' by then:barn::barn::alky:

Aww. Still cool tho. A buddy of mine, who's 10 years older, says he remembers walking by the lot after school when they had the old 4x4's lined up. For some reason there wasn't many people with 4x4's then. A few Jeeps, We had an old IH that barely ran. Dad fed square bales to the cattle with our old 69 2 wheel drive for years til late 70's when he finally got a 73 F250 4x4. I still remember Dad setting the throttle in the 69 and making me steer in feedyard while he threw bales off. I had to stand in the seat to see over wheel, then got cussed cuz I couldn't turn fast enough at end (manual steering) Sorry, rambling:blah:

I like The Chrome Grille. You could mount various grilles to the building. Plates that were shiny metal would fit the theme.

How about RPM Bar and Grill? Wheels and Meals?

The menu could use cars to signify different types of meals.
For example Corvettes and Mustangs would be American type food such as burgers.
Ferrari/Ghia/Alfa Romeo would signify Italian pastas, pizza, etc.

I just heard on the radio today (KIMM 1150 AM) that one of the most shocking lead discoveries ever found is in the manufacturing of women's purses. I guess that is good reason to make the women in your life to quit chewing on their purses. Of course they won't quit unless they really want to quit. I suppose that in some families where there is a closet full of purses, that a hazmat team will have to secure the area and the house will probably be condemned.

The worldwide ramifications of this discovery boggle the mind!---LOL
