View Full Version : 41st Annual Monroe Fall Swap Meet
stllookn 05-19-2009, 06:28 PM Don't you just love it? The sunburn pain is just starting to fade when I get notice in the mail for the swap meet this fall!!! The good news is I got enough donations to cover the 4 booths we will be renting. Block your calendar out for October 10 and 11...same time and same place...pretty much! More to follow at a later date.
nickp51chevy 05-19-2009, 08:53 PM I am so there. Maybe this time I can bring more than just myself.
We can have a little bit belated birthday cake for oldiron and myself. I turn 50 on the 5th and he turns 60 on the 6th...Remember presents aren't required, but they are appreciated
stllookn 05-19-2009, 11:25 PM Presents for a couple of old timers...that will be fun!
ETsC10 05-20-2009, 11:36 PM Presents? I'll be there! dang I feel "middle" aged...;)
If we can come close to this last one it'll be a banner year...
..plus, I think we should practice with a few get togethers in between!
oldiron 05-21-2009, 12:31 AM There is the XXX on July 5th
My car and truck play money bank is totally empty =( Looks like I better bring some stuff to sell this time.
Let me know how to contribute, and status on the passes.

Between kind-hearted donations (here Ellen...don't ya think you'll need one of these...someday?)
and my flawless knack at collecting those treasures I just can't say no to...
...I can't walk through the garage!
..and, no Mike, the Buddies are still staying... :) ...so far...
:ennyd: PARTY TIME !!!!!!!!!!! :ennyd:
................................................................................
stllookn 08-19-2009, 12:12 AM I am thinking about bringing a nice finished tailgate and fender...just for S&G's!!!! If I make it that far...wow...working way too hard!
oldiron 08-19-2009, 02:01 AM Been working hard on cleaning out the shop. Got rid of the Caddy and the burb and soon the 47 plymouth. Now if I can find someone the pawn off the 47 Case to I will only have 5 truck loads of junk to pedal at the swap meet.
nickp51chevy 08-19-2009, 10:41 PM Hey oldiron, my offer still stands if you ever need any help let me know.
Do you have another grill for the case? I want one for my wifes car that we (ok I'm going to try to make it mostly her) are building next. Never to early to get the parts.
Twisted78SS 08-19-2009, 10:51 PM I'm looking forward to being there.. Since I just picked up a new 72 short wide project, (to go along with Project 50th).. I will be searching for some goodies for sure. I had better get started on my list.. Stllookn, did you say tailgate? I am needing one of those for sure..
oldiron 08-20-2009, 01:18 AM Nick I have one. It comes with a tractor. You have a enough land to run it on!
nickp51chevy 08-20-2009, 12:44 PM No. :( Besides I just want the grill. I need a bigger place to store all my crap.
Im bringing everything thats not nailed down. Even going to bring my 59 Impala dash...wish I could remember how much I had it up for sale last time it didnt sell lol.
oldiron 08-21-2009, 12:49 AM CG, it was $200. Up it to $250 and say price reduction on it.
nickp51chevy 08-21-2009, 08:54 PM Thats the way to do it!
Found a bunch of stuff in boxes today that I purchased but never even opened  hub caps, lowering blocks, valve covers (decided to only keep a couple of sets to hang on the wall) Im even bringing both sets of my buddy buckets. (I decided I like a bench seat better. Easier to put a car seat in when my granddaughter is here and stuff doesnt slide down between the seats with a bench. I hope the economy has totally turned around by October so people buy my stuff
oldiron 08-23-2009, 12:20 AM I'm bringing a turbo 350 w/transfer case to peddle off to the lowest bidder.
Americanrider 09-07-2009, 12:50 AM I'm looking forward to being there.. Since I just picked up a new 72 short wide project, (to go along with Project 50th).. I will be searching for some goodies for sure. I had better get started on my list.. Stllookn, did you say tailgate? I am needing one of those for sure..
Are you stillin need of that cast iron bell? It's still here waiting for ya. Anything that is not nailed down will be up for sale from me... I'm trying to wean my self from truck parts to spend more money on my bikes... who needs a short bed project truck? I have one of each going cheap this month.....
Hard Luck 09-07-2009, 01:00 AM I'm up for it again! Hope to have my new R4 tranny in the truck by then.

oldiron 09-10-2009, 11:17 PM How about I come over and relieve you of the nice straight tailgate and put it on my 4x4 for safe keeping?
And I will put a nice coat of black paint on it to protect it.

breeh 09-21-2009, 12:30 AM I am in! I have some stuff to get rid of too. I was thinking of bringing 2 sets of buddy buckets too but together with CG's that would saturate the market!
60ratrod 09-21-2009, 01:28 PM ok so as of right now there isn't much that's gonna hold me back from coming to the meet. found out that my training detatchment to fallon got pushed back to november so expect to see my mug there!!!

stllookn 09-22-2009, 03:15 PM LOL!!!! It's been sitting out ready for someone to steal for about the last 6 weeks!!!! Ok...now only three weeks to go! Time is really running short! I've just got two weekends to put up the rest of my wood and finish trimming all the hedges around the place.
Twisted78SS 09-22-2009, 04:18 PM Hey CG,

60ratrod 10-01-2009, 05:34 PM i'm gonna be there on the 10th. where are we gonna be settin up??
79gmcc15 10-01-2009, 06:04 PM from what I have read. the same place as last time. which was right at the corner of HWY 2 and the road that goes in front of the main gate.
60ratrod 10-01-2009, 06:37 PM actually i was wondering where we were gonna be setting up on the grounds
nickp51chevy 10-01-2009, 08:42 PM That is where we are going to be setting up. It's by the big tot tum pole, we are back in the corner. I'm thinking about going saturday.

pro1955 10-03-2009, 12:51 PM I think I'm going to try to get a stall, what area are you guys in?
ETsC10 10-03-2009, 01:44 PM pro1955, here's the map Oldiron posted last spring...
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x209/ETsC10/Meets/monroeMAP.jpg
Don't know if you can get a booth now.
Stllookn would be the one to ask.
pro1955 10-03-2009, 03:44 PM Thanks, I called and left a message about a stall, don't know if they do or not. There's a guy on craig's list who has 2 spots he wants to sell for 50 bucks, thats probably more trouble than it's worth. Not thinking I'll get close to your spot, probably out in the back forty. :(

Good price at this late date but ...CL...hmmmm.
We ARE in the back 40 !!!
...I think folks are learning where we're at and
unless you have big, bulky amounts of stuff where
you need lots of room, you'll probably
find ample space amongst our four booths.
;) your call Pro55, but your welcome in our camp ;)
.:metal: Whooose READY to Party? :metal:
pro1955 10-04-2009, 09:26 AM We picked up spot #56, it should be close to you guys. My friend is rebuilding an 53 Chev 1 ton, so were both looking for parts. We needed to bring a truck so we might as well sell parts, looking forward to meeting everyone.
60ratrod 10-04-2009, 12:03 PM i think i may have missed it, but what time does all this start up?? i'mma be selling some stuff so i wanna get there early enough so i can set up

Hard Luck 10-04-2009, 03:30 PM How are getting the passes this time? Which Sheri's are we meeting at? The one of exit #6 in Renton?
stllookn 10-05-2009, 08:21 AM Friday hours are for set-up only from 3-9PM. Saturday set-up times are 5:00AM to 8:00AM. They will probably close the gates for drive-ins by 7:30 or 7:45 this year. They have also promised to police the parking more dilligently this year. The meet will be open to the public from at 8:00AM to 5:00PM SAT and 8-3 on Sunday.
Caravan from Sharis should depart by 6:00AM just to be safe. Hard Luck...I will bring an extra pass to Sharis.
Any way I can get a pass, or are there not enough?
Twisted78SS 10-05-2009, 01:31 PM Hey all,
If i make it up early enough, what Shari's are you meeting at to convoy in? I am will be coming from Portland area.
thanks,
Drew
augie 10-05-2009, 01:40 PM Hey can someone refresh my memory about what it costs. I know when I tried to stop by the spring one parking was $12-15 at the big lot, is admission free? I don't really remember, I know places to park nearby to avoid the parking costs. I'm having to tighten the belt and its easier not to spend money at these if I don't have any on me :D.
oldiron 10-05-2009, 08:25 PM OK since we are limited to how many trucks we can get in I will vollenteer to haul in parts for anyone coming from the North of Monroe. I'm taking Friday off from work so if anyone wants to come over to my place or meet in Arlington to load up PM me for my phone #.
Dennis
stllookn 10-06-2009, 08:26 AM Admission is FREE and parking should only be $5. If you get there early you can park along the highway next to the booth for free. CG...I can email you a pass if you need one. We SHOULD have ample parking space where we are located without blocking other vendors but getting there early and claiming your spot is the key...as always.
Drew, The Sharis is off 405 in Renton. It will be the "Maple Valley" exit...can't miss the Sharis since it is across the street. Take a right off exit and get into the far lane to turn left into Sharis. I will get the exact name/number of the exit this week.
pro1955 10-06-2009, 09:25 AM It's going to be nice this weekend, perfect for the swapmeet.
Livrat 10-06-2009, 10:32 AM Drew,
If you like just stop by my place at about 5:45am and you can follow me to Shari's.
Hey all,
If i make it up early enough, what Shari's are you meeting at to convoy in? I am will be coming from Portland area.
thanks,
Drew
stllookn 10-06-2009, 09:31 PM Mark and I were thinking that maybe we want to meet at Sharis at about 5:45AM and depart before 6:00AM. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Monroe from Sharis as I recall. They are talking about closing the gates for drive-ins by 7:30AM. Just a thought.
I will bring the burgers, brats, buns, condiments, plates, utensils, and barbeque. We need cold drinks, espresso machine, breakfast rolls and fruit. Cookies and dessert is always nice too. Big screen tv for the games...we have 120 power in the booth, cd player, pin ball machine, drink blender, Lazboy recliners...anything that will entertain...LOL!
79gmcc15 10-06-2009, 09:55 PM are we good on tarps?
Edit:
I mean Canopy's
Twisted78SS 10-06-2009, 10:02 PM Thanks guys,
Looking forward to it. We might even head up the night before and stay in Tacoma with family so we can get there on time.. Let me know if I need to bring anything in particular.
