This is plasti-Kote Argent silver wheel paint p/n 621...
I don't like it. Too bright for me. Poor contrast for the jewelry. Now I remember why I was supposed color test before painting.:uhmk: But But the cap, it looks darker. Doh...

This is what I was looking for(on truck). Kinda smokish, greenish even.

I did a light coat, and three heavier coats. Is there any thing I can do to darken them up? Other than strip them, and do over.
Not to offend anyone using this shade color on there Rallys. But yuck. This is just wrong looking to me. Plain wrong. jmo:lol:

i agree.. wrong color

i dont think you would have to strip them back down just scuff them up with a scotch brite pad..

I'll scuff them and do it again. Was wondering if there is a limit to how much paint can go on without it peeling, cracking eventually?
Also, Let me get some product info on the correct(imo)color. Name of paint and color, place to purchase. If anybody has info.

Some paint places will match a sample to what you want, and even load it into a rattle can for you. Not cheap, I believe the last place I saw it when I had a cause to be looking charged around $20/can for it after, but, would be cheaper than buying 4 different shades of duplicolor to experiment with... just a thought.

The one on the truck looks like a pewter color

try using the cast color I have used it on tons of stuff to get the color your looking for....just be carefull it does come in 2 colors a lighter and a dark...I think your looking for the light...AS far as painting them agian just hit them with scotchbrite real quick I would worry more about the kid mounting your tires than paint build up

I found the color that satisfies me. It is plasti-kote p/n 618, steel. Plain ol steel. They came out in the right tone, but they are a bit more flat than I was wanting. It works for me though.

Here is a finished pic. It has the contrast I was looking for. The trim rings don't just disappear like they did with the lighter tone.
The camera flash seems to have lightened them back up. But they are a darker shade.
