Hi guys, well I got that easystriper kit I ordered last week. I've been using it since Monday to see how it goes. I have to say it works better than I expected. Since all I do is straight line work at bodyshops and new car dealers, it really does the job...especially the adjustability...you can move the guide pin in or out to match line spacing on repairs at b-shops...like those in the pics. I'm pretty jazzed about it...enough so, that I'm going to order their pro kit and get my younger brother striping new cars. (I tried to teach him how to free hand a few years ago, but like a lot of guys, he just couldn't get it right enough to do it...either that or he never practised :))...with this system he ought to be able to do 20-30 new cars a day pretty easily...make him some good money (since he got laid off a couple of months ago). If I can teach him how to mix color, he can do some b-shop work too.
Here are a few pics of a Crown Vic quarter repair I did with it. Doesn't get any easier than this...2 lines...black. The first pic is the applicator...the second is a shot I took after striping the lines just to show what it looks like...the third is the final product. Sorry about the photo quality.

Looks great SC ... I take back all the negativity I spouted off about.

No sweat, Shane. I respect tremendously the striping artists...those guys who can lay down some *****in' old skool lines. I wanted to be the next Von Dutch when I first started out...found out pretty quick I wouldn't, lol. I got pretty good at straight line work...started doing new cars...5, 10, or 20 at a stop...2-line, 2 color stripes with a little tip scroll if needed. Picked up some body shops (that's where the money is ;))...now have things pretty set up. I never practice the custom stuff anymore...in it for the money now, lol.
I'm just excited about getting my brother started in striping...he really needs something...he saw the kind of money you can make and wanted to do it...he just never got good enough at pulling straight lines. With this system he should be up and striping in a couple of days...I can go get us some more accounts...make a little more myself, lol.

We do painted and tape pinstripes at my work.

We airbrush the painted and use 3M for the tape. We tape the lines off for the painted and then airbrush them in. There is a guy who here in town who does the hand-laid ones. I respect him... I wonder how much beer he has to drink to keep his hands from shaking...
