View Full Version : Under house arrest
Sillyoldman 05-29-2009, 01:16 PM Not really, but kind of. Yesterday an employer called me at 0730am to schedule a interview either for Thursday or Friday. I called right back and left a voice mail. I followed up with an email expressing my interest. I let some time pass and left another message. Nothing. Bummer. This morning I took my daughter to the bus stop and returned home to find a message on my recorder. The same employer as yesterday "Please call right away" "I'll try your cell phone". I called back and the person that called was in a meeting. I left another V-mail. Still nothing. I just emailed again. Now I am waiting....... It's been two and a half hours and I afraid to cook anything or go to the bathroom. I need to take the trash out, but no! I'm hanging in the balance. I have many job searching peeves. You?:waah:

Sillyoldman 06-01-2009, 01:20 PM Well I lived through another one. It lasted for 1 1/2 hours. I like my chances. It's a new field to me. The company makes and installs battery power supplies for buildings, cell phone towers...ect. They showed me intallation in which they helicoptered crews and ecuipment to work areas. Should know by weeks end.
70rs/ss 06-01-2009, 03:35 PM AH FINALLY you can head to the head! J/K good luck I've been pulling for ya, but is it wrong that I don't want you to go to work as I won't have anything funny to read during the day!? Again J/K I hope it works out for you!!

Funny how life is full of laughs and funny ish if you look at it that way! I sometimes forget it IS fun, especially when I am speaking in tongues to my vehicles!! Did ya hear back yet??

There is one thing I have carried with me most of my working days . At age 13 I took a job as a dishwasher. I had a laryngitis and a fever, but I refused to miss my first day of work. The boss explained to me that I could go home until I feel better. I insisted on staying. She told me there's nothing glamorous about the job, but to just try to have some fun doing it. I took that to heart. My co worker & I would challenge each other by who could load a rack the quickest. Carry the most dishes...ect. After a while we had pretty much forgotten that we were working. I think the key to any job is to find a way to have fun doing it and enjoy a good laugh.
(Sorry I meant to quote you. I hit the edit button by mistake)
70rs/ss 06-02-2009, 11:26 AM I work with kids, so I can get upset or laugh, I choose to laugh (they really do say the darndest things!) I am not sure I could do a "job" I hated, I'd either have to make it fun or quit, even money loses it's luster if you hate your job!
67ChevyRedneck 06-05-2009, 07:45 PM Well... it's week's end... anything?
I went to another DOT interview on Tuesday. Don't think I got that one either. There's just too damn many qualified people in my area, not to mention Clemson university pumping out 50-70 new Civil Graduates about every 6 months.
My unemployment runs out in a few weeks. Can't believe it's been that long...
dammitmitchell 06-06-2009, 08:49 AM Good luck!

Tater 06-08-2009, 10:54 PM I'm going to have to look into getting an extention,I'd rather get a job first though.

Yep. Right now no matter how much a job sucks, if it pays low but you can make it keep it. Look later.
