I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the best way to paint a engine so it will hold up. What kind of primer and paint should i use. Thank you for the help.

this is ONE of the subjects that is hit on once EVERY week or two. You can use VHT, Eastwood, or ANY of the other high temp engine paints. Or you can use epoxy primer and base coat/clear coat automotive paint. The KEY to which ever way you do it, is to CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN before you do anything. The motor has to literally be clean enough to eat off of.

Another tip is to use many light coats instead of 2-3 heavy ones. Personally I've always had much better adhesion by starting with a light 'dust' coat and letting that flash for at least 15 minutes before applying the 1st of 5-6 cover coats, with 15 minutes flash between each cover coat.

Great advice so far, and I agree 100% with the light dust coats first. I had great results spraying the Por-15 engine paints. I tried brushing it first, and it was a disaster. You can check it out in my build thread below.
