Hi yall. I'm new to the site so i figured i would say hello to everyone. I'm from Clinton,MS and I'm just starting to fix up a 85 chevy swb c-10 ( the one in the profile pic). I have taking the 305 out and now getting ready to paint the engine compartment then droping a 383 stroker in. Whice leads me to a question. What is the best paint to use under the hood? I want to go with a semi black. something easy to spray and won't peel in a year.

First of all, let me apologize that your post has been up for 2 weeks without a reply. You're probably thinking "What a bunch of SNOBS!", which is not true at all.
Now that that's out of the way, :welcome2: from Byram, Mississippi's newest incorporated community. :metal:
Great lookin' square body you got there. Hope to see you out and about before long. As for under hood paint, one of the better products available is from Eastwood. (eastwood.com, I believe) If you're looking for a temporary fix, rattle can engine enamel would do OK for awhile.
Will you be at Crusin' the Coast in October? Many of us will be there, some for the entire week. Hope to see you there.

Hey Gman. Apology accepted. Thanks i still have a long way to go to get it where i want it.

I will be at the coast in October. I've gone for the last 7 years. I finally got something to ride around in this year. I plan to be there either Thursday night or Friday morning.

I went to Keystone and got Hot Rod Flatz Black. We painted it last weekend. It tured out great. They said it would last so will see.

Hello Chickenwing and Krue. Thanks for the reply. I agree we should have a mini board meet. I'm definitely in.

Krue, I'm a Dave Ramsey fan too.

I do have a question. I'm looking at a 3/5 drop from DJM for my 1985 chevy. Its a front coil spring rear flip kit. Will a flip kit drop the rear 5in with stock hangers and shakels?

The truck was droped before i bought it, but it was done so by cuting the front springs and home made shackels, hangers and heating the left springs. Needless to say its alittle fishy to drive. I have new left springs but figure i will have to find hangers and shackels.

Thanks
Brad
