What do you all do for a "living"?

I am a car salesman right now. It just might be one of the worst jobs around. Stand around with nothing to do most of the time, then deal with people who come to your lot and then get rude with you for wanting to help them. It makes no sense. Once I told a guy who was being stupid with me..."If I was wandering around in your back yard while you were sitting at home, wouldn't you want to see what I needed?" After a blank stare seeming to ask what this meant I told him, "Welcome to my back yard." The people that I deal with everyday is what makes it tough to go to work. At some point I would like to get back in to a shop full time and get back to building and painting. That is my passion and where my talents are.

I work for the City of Colorado Springs as an Engineering Inspector 1. That's my official title, but I'm a Grading and Erosion Inspector for new construction. The contractors call me a Dirt Cop. (and a lot of other things behind my back) Basically what I do is try to keep the sediment and pollutants from construction out of the drinking water. I'm definitely not an environmentalist, but I do believe in clean water.

Yo! Wow!
I'm an operating room nurse of 20+ years, now "retired" to working for a general/trauma surgeon in his office in Fort Collins!
I do all my own construction/remodeling, mechanics, and body/paint work myself for stress relief and fun,...my job allows me to afford it.
Started with a daily driver '68 Mustang coupe in '92 and have built and sold a '66 (in two modifications). Still have the '68, as well as my '42 JD-B tractor, '69 F-100, '72 VW SuperBeetle, the '76 Camaro I drive each day, my '78 FRANKENTRUCK, '79 Fiat Spider conv., and my ricer,...42,000 origonal mile RX-7 conv. Bought my wife one of the first 5 speed manual 2004 Subaru Forester Turbos,...a keeper. It REALLY kicks ass!
Built and sold a couple of others along the way, but they're hardly worth mentioning,...well the '81 Chevy 4x4 P/U was OK, but the 305 was a dog, even with a manual tranny! Used to have a cool raised '77 Toyota Landcruiser,...great 4x4!
My first car (1973, high school) was a '53 Studebaker Commander that I put a 327 and BW T-10 4 speed in with 4.55:1 gears!! THAT got me started.
Whatever!
Todd.

Denver-area general contractor specializing in kitchen and bath remodels. A really bad time to be in construction, but you can't exactly undo twenty five years of "experience." Been coaching alot of high school baseball as a result...

Guys, while we are promoting what we do, I will throw something out there for everyone. If you are looking for a vehicle let me know. I have the ability to get about anything you want. Later model stuff that is. And I have a referral program...if you know somebody looking to buy a car let me know and send them to me. If I can sell them a car I will pay you. Easy way to get some extra "mama don't know money."

"Service Engineer" is my official title. In reality I make inside sales calls, occasionally make trips to our US customers for sales visits and install supervision, and do design and CAD work for new products. I'm also our shipping manager. And plant safety manager! We design and manufacture parts for coal-fired power plants and cement plants, and have regular customers in the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Europe. We have an office in the UK and one in S.A. They keep telling me some day I will be able to go on an install supervisor trip to Australia, but that day hasn't come yet......

Besides that, I do fab related work out of my shop at home. Things like my Camaro and Impala disc brake brackets that I sell on the board, and odd ball metal art things, yard signs, wall hangings, etc.

I'm in the Air Force Active Duty for nearly 12 years now. I originally worked in Budget and Accounting, and was a Disbursing Officer in Alaska for 2 years. 3 years ago I changed my career to the IT field, I do everything from Desktop Support to Network Communication, and some other things that I cannot get into.

Stationed at Buckley AFB, returned from 8 month stint in Afghanistan about a year ago, as a result newly divorced, and that is why I am here, I bought my mid-life crisis a little early, so please check out my build thread and leave your wisdom there for me :)

I am hoping to have a finished truck by the 2010 get together, but I doubt it. Maybe I'll drive up in my D...DDdd...DDD.... Dodge.

I work with the engineering group, designing new engine control systems for industrial engines. I get to grind, weld, wire stuff up, and search for new parts, and get paid for it. Been doing this 8 years, and one of the few guys I know that really like my job.
