View Full Version : Bad Ground?

So it seems as though I have a bad ground...

I recently replaced my battery and let the truck sit for a few weeks and now I have a truck that won't start. I tried jumping it and the starter would click but it wouldn't turn over.

The ground for the battery was on the block in one of the header bolts and I hadn't had problems up until this point, could it just start being a problem out of nowhere?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have very little electrical experience that doesn't involve speakers and head units!

Thanks guys.

Are you sure its a bad ground? Is the battery up to voltage? If it has sat for some time a dome light left on or radio/clock can drain a battery. Can you jump start it? You should have ground through that header bolt although its not an Ideal location due to the heat cycles and what not. Check your battery voltage, it should be a 12.5 or so volts. You may want to move your ground to a better location.

Hope that helps some

sounds like a dead battery
Time to charge the battery, then start it up, and then after you confirm that, you need to find out what is draining the battery.
Have you installed a new stereo, or steering wheel lately?
