Any body try this out?

Just curious, seems lik a good deal. Can you get a decent finish out of it?

It runs ~$23/qt. Assuming I need a few qts of primer, of color, and clear, say 10 qts all together. Then that's still only $230.

I spent $800 on paint last time.

Just a driver.

It will probably take more than you are thinking. That stuff is "premixed", meaning that you do not "thin" or "reduce" the product. It goes straight from the can to the gun, there is no gain in volume from adding to the mix.

It is lacquer and is junk. You can buy single stage urethane and have 100 times the job. Actually they are screwing you at $23/a quart, because it is mostly lacquer thinner. It is OVERREDUCED and takes more to cover. Buy good paint.

I bought urethane enamel from Napa last time. I spent 800 in paints and primers.

Just thought I'd ask. Sounded to good to be true!

Don't open that can of worms lol. This has been hashed and rehashed here and on other sites. Do a search and you will find a bunch.

A better idea,

I just bought 1 gallon of nason base and 1 gallon of nason primer and 1 gallon of nason clear with all activators and hardners for about $300. I would say this is alot better way to go than the duplicor

So have y'all used this Kirker or Nason?

I have heard of Nason before, where do you get that?

Kirker, on line only?

One of the reasons I spent so much last time was I had to also buy the etching primer and then I bought two different colors for a two tone on my sub.

Thanks

i picked my Nason up at my local paint supply. Most carry it. It is a Dupont paint brand

The coverage was rotten, it is thinned out way to much. By the time I got done painting my 1988 GMC I had spent way more than if I would have bought, medium quality PPG or Dupont product. It has also faded very badly (I painted the truck 2 years ago).

my 93 civic was faded and peeling badly on the top, and i didnt want to go into a full body/paint job. i bought a quart of the metallic gray, and a quart of clear. pulled a tape line down the side of the car, sanded the top, sprayed the color, then the clear, wetsand and buffed. its holding up very well for a $50 paint job. it isnt perfect but i didnt spend alot of time prepping either. mind you the car has 350k miles on it, but ill tell you it looks better now than it did before. ive run my car through high pressure no touch carwashes, and brushed washes, and neither have affected the paint. i did have to wetsand it a good bit because it had ALOT of metallic flake in it, but the plain colors are not as hard to work with. i used the red on a buddies diff cover, sway bar. brake calipers and it held up fine on those too. i wont be using it on my 69 c10, but then again im aiming for a lot nicer finished product than my daily (40mpg) driver.
