View Full Version : Anyone have a rear end?
glock35ipsc 08-23-2009, 01:38 PM The rear end out housing of the burb is no good, so I'm back to square one. The gears look OK, and I could put them in the trucks housing, but I was wanting the extra width of the burb rearend.
So, if anyone has or knows of a 10 or 12 bolt with either 3.42's or 3.73's, and roughly 58"-59" between axle flanges, please let me know!! It doesn't have to be 73-87 specific either, I can cut and reweld pads and brackets. But it does need to be a 5x5 bolt pattern.
Driveway Dreams 08-23-2009, 03:42 PM Bob, call me later. My buddy Jason (with the Black 78) just got a 12 bolt, drum to drum, today that he is pulling the gears out of for his truck. He will make you a great deal...trade...if you want the housing. And he will pass his current gears to you with it. Call me this evening & I will talk to you more. :metal:

Tucknuts 09-02-2009, 02:22 AM did you get a rear end? we have on im sure my cousin will want to give away.. its out of a burb and its 5on5
glock35ipsc 09-02-2009, 08:01 AM I haven't picked up one yet, so heck yeah!
Driveway Dreams 09-02-2009, 03:34 PM Bob, I take it Jason never called you. Sounds like Tucknuts has a better option for you anyway. I have to get my Vortec motor to Denver next Wednesday, if you can work it out I would be down to help if we combine the 2 trips. Go to Denver, trade my motor for my new tranny, and then go down there and grab your new rear end. Let me know.
Tucknuts 09-03-2009, 02:13 AM well he said if you come get it then its yours. he doesn't have a need for it as he is going with a ford 9"
glock35ipsc 09-03-2009, 08:04 AM Tucknuts, that's freaking awesome!!!! Yeah, I'll definitely take it! Could you PM me either your phone number or his so I can get directions? Thanks a ton man!! Rep points left for you!
Gerald, I think I can get Wednesday off if you still want to do that. That would be awesome if you could help me out with getting it. I know a great BBQ place to stop at on the way home. :D Rep points for you too!
glock35ipsc 09-03-2009, 08:13 AM BTW Gerald....... were you by chance drinking anything last night???
Driveway Dreams 09-03-2009, 10:07 AM No drinking last night...:haha: that is why I thought it was you chasing prairie dogs. :haha:
Give me a call to figure out the plan for Wednesday.
Driveway Dreams 09-10-2009, 10:50 PM If anybody needs someone to chauffeur them to get a part. Just let me know. And Bob will tell you, I am pretty good at it. :D
glock35ipsc 09-11-2009, 09:09 AM He is!!!
TonyJohnson 09-13-2009, 07:42 PM Bob, let me know if this doesn't work out. I may have an extra after next Wednesday... See this thread:

Later, Tony
glock35ipsc 09-13-2009, 08:27 PM Thanks Tony. If your thinking the one out of the Blazer though, I think it is too narrow. The rear end in my 72 Blazer is narrower that the 85's rear end. And it's 6 lug.

I won't be sure what I'm getting until Wednesday. I'll measure. The guy thought a Jimmy was a Blazer, so the "matched set of front and rear diffs" he's throwing in could be from anything. I'll know more later.
Now I've just got to find a GMC/Jimmy grill and hood. Otherwise, I've got some trading to do...
Later, TJ
glock35ipsc 09-14-2009, 08:34 AM Refresh my memory, the GMC hood is the same as the 67-68 Chevy hood, right? I have a 67 GMC grill, but it needs some straightening. You can have it if you don't find anything soon.

Wow, that's nice. I've got a 70 Chevy grill that needs a little work. I'm just starting to remember the differences in the GMC/Chevy fenders. You're right about the hood. The fenders similar to 67-68 Chevy fenders, as well.
Ok, now I'm leaning toward restore. Gotta do some surfing and see what that title will take...
Thanks,
TJ
