A friend of mine has that same compressor. It wont keep up with my air sander. So, long sandblasting sessions might tax it too hard. Dont know about HVLP.

HVLP painting will be just fine. What's the CFM rating on your compressor (at 90psi)? I'm guessing 8 or above. I think 10 and above is a sufficient number for sandblasting b/c of the high volume of air. The larger the tank the less cycling will occur. I 'had' been using a 4hp/20 gallon compressor for sandblasting and it was painfully slow, would run constantly but more importantly the pressure was not sufficient enough to clean the frame. I just bought a 60 gallon/7hp (peak :-() Farm and Country compressor (made by cambell-hausfeld (sp?)) for $380! 9.7CFM, haven't had a chance to continue sandblasting but will be getting back to it within the next couple of days!

Just wondering, have you had a chance to try that 7 hp sandblasting..if so how did it work out, I have a 2hp 20 gal and am thinking of buying the 7hp 60 gal and am wondering if i will notice a big difference

I used it for 3-4 minutes out in the open but haven't had a chance to continue working on sandblasting the frame-will probably begin that this weekend. most of my recent time has been dedicated to welding new panels in place. I'll let you know next week how the 7hp works.

glad I found this thread again. I was sandblasting over the weekend and wanted to get back to you on its performance. The compressor and air supply is awesome-but the gravity feed system I'm using doesn't always 'suck' enough sand (sort of like somethings stuck in the feed pipe). at other times its like there is no restriction-at which time it really cleans the frame fast! In general I would say I'm cleaning the frame 2-3 times faster then before. I have the pressure adjusted so that its providing 90-100 psi during blasting. I've considered one of the pressurized sandblasting tanks, but have other things to spend my money on for the time being.
