Hello, my name is Rusty Hanes and I am excited about the possibility to represent the MSRA members as a board member. I am 29, married and live in Fridley with my wife Autumn and our 8 month old daughter.
I have been in the car hobby for over half of my life and enjoy being actively involved in the hobby. Over the past two years I have been heavily involved in re-energizing the Tomahawk Ch. 13 (POCI) Pontiac Club as an event coordinator. I have also been active with the Ignitor’s Car Club.
Many MSRA members have never heard of me, let alone met me in person. I am not a common name amongst the main stream car club crowd. I believe this to be an asset as I will be able to effectively represent the MSRA members with impartiality. I will work hard on your behalf, listen to your concerns and ideas and represent them to the best of my ability. Accountability in spending and club business decisions is very important to me. I will be fiscally responsible and will demand the same from fellow board members. I believe my youth, energy, communication skills and experience in working and planning events will be a tremendous asset to the board of directors. MSRA was founded on the basis of friends, food, fun and fellowship; as a board member I want to continue and expound on that tradition. I believe we can still do more for our members and the community.
MSRA as an organization is facing some serious challenges in the near future. MSRA, like most other car clubs, has an aging membership. If we do not address this issue, our beloved organization will eventually fail. I don’t believe this is what anyone wants for the club. I will bring new ideas and innovative ways to address this challenge. There is a wealth of untapped resources and opportunities to reach out to all generations and members. We need to start focusing on our future, before it’s too late.
The MSRA board has had many of the same names for quite a long time. And though they have done a good job making this club a success, I believe that for the health of this club it is imperative that we elect some new faces to the board of directors. This will ensure some fresh ideas that will keep this club growing strong into the future.
Thank you for your time, and I ask for your support in the upcoming election.
Sincerely,
Rusty Hanes
