View Full Version : Colorado truck club???
powell72 09-29-2009, 09:30 PM I know Gerald tossed this out in one of the other threads, and I figured I'd start one just for this so we don't get too many different things going in one thread.
I think if we all "officially" started a truck club that could be pretty fun. More get togethers and cruises, we could invade car shows:lol:, maybe we could do fund raisers or our own show for charity and be able to give back to our communitys? Something like "Rocky Mountain GM Truck Club", or whatever. Just something to think about and discuss at the BBQ.;)
Driveway Dreams 09-29-2009, 10:55 PM I was just thinking about 10 minutes before reading this that a fundraiser show would be awesome. I have a few ideas for shows too.
1) A breast cancer support car show. -Bumpers for Boobs
2) A show to support kids of needy families. -Cars helping Kids
TonyJohnson 09-29-2009, 11:44 PM My wife is executive director of Medicine Horse Program, here in Boulder. We've got a great facility and could host a show and maybe a casino night or something. The web site is here (http://www.medicinehorse.org/) (most of the photography is mine and I do their web site). They do great work and help a lot of kids. The theme could work, as well. Something around horse power. You get the idea...
Just one possibility,
Tony
bobbo 09-30-2009, 08:00 AM There is a club that is a sister to this site. The Chevy and GMC International Truck Club. I am president of the Missouri Chapter. I can send you info on the club and then you would need to contact Liz regarding getting it set-up. Just a thought for you guys. Let me know what you think...
Driveway Dreams 09-30-2009, 12:31 PM Tony I love the idea. That would be awesome if you guys could host something up there.
As far as the club goes...I do not have a preference as to weather we start our own or just look at doing a CO chapter of the International club. What is everyone elses opinion?
TonyJohnson 09-30-2009, 12:34 PM Depends on what it costs, what we get for that cost and the rules. Maybe Robert can elaborate...
bobbo 09-30-2009, 01:00 PM There is no cost as we are trying to get the club overall up and going. We are in the works of trying to get everything organized and some benefits. As of now, it is the use of the name and we do have a website. We are trying to get some others involved and get input from the members as to newsletters, for chapters and the club overall. It is more to get families and their trucks involved in events and community. There are no chapter fees or membership fees at this time. As things progress, we can discuss any changes that may need to be done regarding it. Liz is the one in charge of the overall specifics regarding the club as a whole and then the chapters assign officers for the day to day functions of their chapter. We do have a list of rules and bylaws, which are pretty much standard to any club. Anyone needing this information, PM me your email and I can mail you out a copy.
Driveway Dreams 09-30-2009, 01:07 PM PM sent. Thanks again for all your help offered to us.
powell72 09-30-2009, 09:01 PM I'm good with a chapter just going off of what Robert said.
TonyJohnson 09-30-2009, 09:07 PM Sounds fine.
Driveway Dreams 09-30-2009, 09:48 PM :agree: He will be sending a copy of the rules this weekend. I think that is a great opportunity for us. Everyone in favor of starting or own chapter of the international club, say "I". :) But really, I think this will be a good chance for us.
glock35ipsc 10-01-2009, 09:52 AM "I" am down for this! Great idea!
powell72 10-01-2009, 10:48 PM I!
Driveway Dreams 10-01-2009, 11:10 PM Is there anybody that would like to head up our local chapter, and get it set up? I will continue to take charge of what I have become pretty good at...gatherings. Unless anybody thinks that is a bad idea.
powell72 10-02-2009, 03:55 PM I might POSSIBLY be able to, it'll just depend on how involved it is, I probably have more free time then most (no kids;)).
oats84 10-03-2009, 07:56 PM Im game and there are a few of us on the western slope
coloradosean2009 10-04-2009, 12:42 PM Count me in.
Colesnsty68 10-06-2009, 08:44 PM "I" a chapter and/or club would just be awesome here in colorado.
powell72 10-07-2009, 07:44 PM Gerald, did Robert send you the by-laws for the chapter yet?
bobbo 10-07-2009, 07:57 PM I apologize, this past weekend and week have been....interesting. I'm in the process of looking for a new job and/or going back to school. I haven't had a chance to put it together on my computer and email it. I will try to get it together by the weekend and get it sent...I'm also awaiting a message from Liz regarding it...
rbeau30 10-07-2009, 08:13 PM I would like to join and help out when I can. I have a truck, but it is in pieces and probably will take a year or two to finish. Don't actually have to have a running truck to join right? :)
jkslvr 10-10-2009, 06:56 PM I would Like to join a CO club too!
New owner of a 72 CST
Would someone PM me with some sort of details or something... if there is even anything going

Driveway Dreams 10-10-2009, 11:33 PM Ok, sounds like a plan. ...Oh wait, that means reading? :bs: That's why I got married. :gi:
bobbo 10-12-2009, 09:17 AM I am still waiting on Liz to get me some more info for you guys, when I got the Missouri chapter going, all i had to do was let her know and she sent me the info I needed, then it was just a matter of getting people to join with an app...I will get the info as soon as I get it, I may just post it here as well as emailing...
Driveway Dreams 10-12-2009, 10:02 AM That would work great! Thanks again.
Driveway Dreams 10-26-2009, 04:29 PM I think as long as we get the club going, we get some shirts made and make sure everyone is wearing one at the show in July. Then we all look official.
powell72 10-27-2009, 05:48 PM I sent Liz a reminder pm today. I'll make sure to do what I can to get this thing up and running.
Driveway Dreams 10-27-2009, 10:20 PM Thanks Chris!...and Jenn. :D
sdime95 10-28-2009, 05:45 PM "I" am in either sounds good for me! ill keep checking back for more info. Im sure my grandpa would be game too!
Driveway Dreams 01-22-2010, 10:22 PM Hey guys, thought I would revive this because I had a club name idea the other night. What do you guys think of this one? The Movement
TonyJohnson 01-22-2010, 11:45 PM Hey guys, thought I would revive this because I had a club name idea the other night. What do you guys think of this one? The Movement
Uh... Sorry, I just had one...
The alternate meaning of that one may be an issue. Good idea to get the ball rolling, though.
Driveway Dreams 01-23-2010, 04:58 PM Geez Tony!
Leave it to you. That thought never crossed my mind, obviously. Well...time for other ides to come out then.
powell72 01-23-2010, 10:13 PM What about Rocky Mountain GM Trucks?
TonyJohnson 01-23-2010, 10:35 PM ooh... RMGM... not bad.
powell72 01-24-2010, 10:30 AM Any more ideas? I say we move forward with our own club since no one has gotten back to us on a CGITC chapter.
Driveway Dreams 01-25-2010, 03:05 PM What about Rocky Mountain GM Trucks?
Chris, I like it. I think we might run into legalities using "GM" in it though.
Driveway Dreams 02-20-2010, 10:46 PM RMGMTE?
Rocky Mountain General Motors Truck Enthusiasts
Chris, you & Jenn still up for heading up the efforts of the club?
powell72 02-26-2010, 03:36 PM RMGMTE?
Rocky Mountain General Motors Truck Enthusiasts
Chris, you & Jenn still up for heading up the efforts of the club?
I think we can handle that. RMGMTE is a mouthful, if we could shorten it a little I think it would be better, maybe change enthusiasts for club?
Rocky Mountain General Motors Truck Club.
TonyJohnson 02-26-2010, 04:27 PM Rocky Mountain Classic Trucks
That leaves it wide open and we can keep it GM in the description. It gives us a lot of options in the future.
bowtie72 02-26-2010, 06:34 PM I'm in and sure I could talk to a few guys that would be interested too. I am going to try and make the show in July If its still on!:metal::chevy:

I agree RMGMTE is too long. Tony I like it but it seems like it would limit years to the classics, and I think it would be cool to be all years welcome. GM Truck Club of the Rockies comes to mind again, the legalities of using GM are in question.
powell72 02-27-2010, 08:41 AM What if we went with Tony's, and we had like a tag line underneath,
Rocky Mountain Classic Trucks
Chevy and GMC truck club
TonyJohnson 02-27-2010, 09:14 AM Even new Chevy trucks are "classics" in the making... lol
TonyJohnson 02-27-2010, 09:18 AM What if we went with Tony's, and we had like a tag line underneath,

Chevy and GMC truck club
That certainly gets around any legal issues with GM. We could let anyone join who wants, regardless of the age of the truck. Once folks checked us out, they'd see we have newer trucks, as well. We kind of want folks interested in the classic trucks, even if they don't have one yet...

I agree, the only thing I'd like to shy away from is ending up with a bunch of unruly younger guys with their S-10's and the like. I don't have a problem with S-10's, I'd just like our club to be full of respectable people and have a family atmosphere.
Driveway Dreams 02-28-2010, 05:52 PM Rocky Mountain Classic Trucks
Chevy and GMC truck club
Great idea guys. (Afterall it was a combination of Tony & Chris.) I think by having some good core members we can control who comes into the club. So, we should be able to have the club we all desire.
powell72 02-28-2010, 09:08 PM So, what does everyone say, are we good with that name?
TonyJohnson 02-28-2010, 09:29 PM Sounds fine.
