Here is a quick little guide for newbies on how to resize and post pictures without additional software.

1. Get the pictures on your computer via scanner or digital camera.

2. Resize the picture to fit on the web. Do this for each picture.
a. go into paint (start, programs, accessories, click on paint)
b. find your picture to resize
c. open image
d. click on image on the menu bar
e. choose stretch/skew
f. usually 75% is sufficient - the goal is to get it around half the width of your screen. Around 480X360 pixels. You can check the size of the picture by going to the image menu and clicking attributes. If it is too big or too small, go to edit and undo and retry with a larger or smaller ratio.
g. save the picture - go to save as. Saving it on the desktop will ensure easy retrieval for later. make sure under filetype it says JPEG (.jpg). This is the uniform internet picture format.

3. Put the pictures somewhere on the web.
a. put them on your webpage or web server. Usually your service provider (company who you get your internet service from i.e. AOL, Charter, SBC, Earthlink) will provide you with some webspace for you to store stuff online or make a webpage. Contact you ISP for the information on using this webspace
b. You can also use a picture album website. Other members have experience in this. I would apperciate it if senior members would post their favorite picture hosting site. This route involves going to their website and uploading the photos.

4. Adding them to your post - in a new post simply press the IMG button. Type the URL of your pictures (I use a website to store my pics to post on the board. my webspace is at Angelfire so this is my account: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/agentapst I have a special folder I put the pics I post on this board in. It is http://www.angelfire.com/trek/agentapst/imghost so if my pic I wanted to post was named truckpic1.jpg, in the Hyperlink URL box I would put http://www.angelfire.com/trek/agentapst/truckpic1.jpg ) and then click ok. Repeat as many times as you have pictures and you are now sharing with the rest of us!

The only way i can change file size, is by making picture smaller.
Other peoples pic are big and they are not being hosted anywhere. I tried photomax , ifanview,paint they all do same. also when you check properties of some pics posted it says file size unknown and they ere on this site????
