I'm reassembling my 1970 1/2 ton and the hood fits good other that it sits about 3/8 too high in the middle in relation to the cowl. Both the hood and cowl are stock pieces. Do I shim up the cowl in the middle or is there a better way??

Speedster229 - My hood was riding about 1/2" above the cowl all along the back edge. I loosened the 2 rear bolts on each hood hinge and was able to push the back part of the hinge down. Did this to both sides and the hood now lines up flush with the cowl. Careful: I did this 3 or 4 times to each side because I overshot the mark; a small change on the hinge causes a big height difference.
Hmmmm, I just re-read your post - If the hood is higher ONLY in the middle, you got problems I didn't and (short of jumping on the middle of the hood!) I don't have any suggestions.
Good Luck,
nosto--Are you talking about the volts that hold the hinge to the fender, or the bolts that hold the hood to the arm on the hinge? My hood is about 1/2"-3/4" higher than my cowl, but the hood gets lower when it reaches the pass. side. Thanks.

jjk3 - The bolts that hold the hinge to the fender. There's three on each hinge, I only had to loosen the back two and pushed down on the back part of the hinge to lower the hood a bit. I think it was mentioned a while back on the Board that the bolt holes in the back of the hinge are elongated just for this adjustment.
Sounds like you just need to even the angle of the hinges to bring the driver's side down flush with the cowl.
nosto--Thanks for the info. I'm going to give that a try when I get some time.

Going back to the original question by Speedster229, if the hood is high only in the middle either the hood is bent, or the cowl is bent. No amount of hinge adjusting is going to fix it.
