Do I need a line filter or water trap for my paint gun? I am using a oiled compressor and it's a Campbell Hausfeld gun

I would use one, better safe than sorry, I hate when I get a drip of water on previously well sprayed paint :(

I agree, as cheap as the in-line filters are, why take a chance? I use a water trap at the compressor, as well as an in-line filter at the gun when I'm painting. You'll be glad you did. :cool:

they are only a couple of bucks at your local paint store ... like randy said, water trap/dryer at the compressor and a filter at the gun. Also, you said you had an oiler on the compressor ... by pass the oiler if you plan on painting ... fish-eye city if any oil gets past the filters.

i use a watertrap at the compressor another one at the line outlet and a disposable one on the gun florida near the ocean is nice but damp

How bout if I was to go with an oiless compressor?

Go to Princess and pick up the filters.By oil less do you mean diaphram compressor?
Also I saw that you should run your compressor through a solid line that is slightly on an upward angle into the wall filters and hook your hose up on the other side.

if you have the oilless you definately need real good water filtering IMO they produce more condensation in the line than the 2stage oiled compressors

Oil-less compressors don't last as long and are noisey as hell. You'll be fine as long as you use a water trap and a filter. One more thing, don't use an old air hose for painting, they are usually full of oil too.
