Put your color on an separate layer (layers pallet) and then you can change the layer (at the top of the layers pallet) from "normal" to overlay, color, multiply, color burn, color dodge, etc. Sometimes, it is easiest to change colors buy making a "Hue/Saturation" adjustement layer. In the Hue/Saturation window, check "colorize" then adjust the hue, saturatation and lightness until you get the desired color.
