I'm painting my stepside bed in sections. I plan on painting 3 to 4 coats. A. Enamel + Hardner.

I have shot one coat and I have 2 small runs. Should I block sand these down before the 2nd coat, or keep on going and fix it after the paint has cured fully?

If you're not in any hurry to get the second coat on, let the paint dry for a week or two. You'd be surprized at how much those runs will shrink. Then you can block sand what's left of them and go from there. Use 400 and warm soapy water.

Thanks Randy, how long can I wait to put on a second cote?

When will the paint be too cured to allow another coat to stick?

If I wait several days will I have to sand the first coat, or will the next coat stick OK?

RodC,

I took at a look at your webshots of your truck. SAWEEEEET! I love short steps and yours is extremely clean. I am pretty much a stocker but yours has just enough custom that I love it. Nicely done!

Here's a pic of mine below. I just got it two months ago and have much to do. BTW, how much did you lower yours and how did you do it?

Thanks!

Thanks

It has been lowered by cutting a 1 1/2 turns off the front spring and there is a 2 1/2" inch block between the axle and the trailing arms. The panhard bar was bent to bring the rear end back to alighnment.

It is pretty clean, the bed was pretty bad where it had been covered. I have the bed torn apart right now and Im putting it back together.

I'm trin to keep it pretty close to stock.

I also want to stay pretty close to stock. I am contemplating how close...I still have the drivers side spare and am wavering on that one.

Mine never had the drivers side spare, I would have to think twice about that one also. I'm shootin for "stock" appearance but not necessarly what the truck came with.

Yeah, I guess the drivers side spare was an option. It's listed on my glove box options list. Drivers side spare, vinyl trimmed bench seat and amm/oil/temp gauges...and that was it. Not a single other option on it.

The way I figure it, if I keep the spare, I might as well put the dog dish style hubcaps back on it too. :)

One more thing, in regards to lowering our trucks...a buddy of mine in Dallas claims that in '67 GM made a "light duty" truck that had lighter springs than normal. He says if you take those springs and put them on a regular 1/2 C10, it'll squat but still keep the ride. I think he also put blocks under his rear.

Just an interesting FYI.

I have heard that also, I have not seen a part number or a source for it. I also heard rumors that there was a different spring for 6cyls that was weaker than the 8s.
