a friend of mine is going to paint my truck for free if i pay for supplies and paint. How much does a good quart of paint run? how much more would pearl paint cost compared to a regular paint?

My buddy painted his 67' GTO with House of Kolor chamelion and that stuff is outrageous in price, like $350 quart. Pick some colors then talk to your local paint supplier.
