if you were to go to a full fibreglass front clip with full phantom grille how much weight would you save over the stock fenders/hood and grille? * dont worry about the phantom grille if ya dont know, someone has to have an idea about the clip though

Shipping weight on our ( USBODY ) tilt front ends with hinges is 160 pounds, race fronts are 90 pounds.

Unless you have a car that is running within a tenth of a second at the drags EVERY SINGLE run, you would NEVER be able to know. There is just not enough difference to ever feel the weight savings in any way with your typical street truck. Or even not so typical. :)
If you want fiberglass front for what ever other reason, you think it would be "cool", you want the tilt because it is easier to work on the motor, those are reasons that make sense.
For a weight savings, put your jammies on, your dreaming. :)

also, how much weight would i save by going from long box to short box, and besides weight savings, which would launch better at the strip a long or short?

You'll save at least 150lbs or more going to a shortbox. The box alone is quite lighter. When I cut my 87 from a longbox to short, it took 3 of us to lift the longbox, while 2 of us could easily handle the shortbox. As for launching at the drag strip, I would think the shortbox since weight would transfer easier to the rear. Also going to fiberglass front end will save lots of lbs. Have you lifted a steel hood and fenders lately?
