I have to replace a dented fender on my '82. I don't have the money to repaint it right now and just want to wait until I can repaint my whole truck at one time.
What can I use that will keep the metal from rusting between now and paint next summer?

blast it down to bare metal and spray it with self etching primer, PPG 1791/1792 is what I use... then a couple of coats of DP epoxy primer in your favorite color and you're set.
Application is easy with a compressor and a spray gun, and it will last longer than you need it to...
You might also be able to find self etch primer in a rattle can from places like Eastwood.....

Hey All:
What the heck is a self etching primer
and how is it better than normal gray,
brown, etc primers?
