Lobo'74 04-03-2004, 01:28 PM Anyone interested in planning a get together in say - October? We have board folks in the Norfolk, Richmond, Charlottesville, Front Royal, and Martinsburg areas that I can think of right off.
How about a get together in Charlottesville, or Richmond on Fri 29 and Sat 30 October?
Got plenty of time to plan it . . . . If there is interest.
72 CustomCamper 04-05-2004, 12:08 AM Richmond would be good for me...
Chuck
Lobo'74 04-05-2004, 09:31 AM OK, lets see if we get a few more "locals" who are interested. Like I said, starting this early we have some time.
Just thought that it shouldn't only be the folks in the midwest, and Texas, and the west coast who have all the fun!
72 CustomCamper 04-06-2004, 08:06 PM Hey Lobo, might have to put a link on the message board, doesn't look like you're getting any answers here...
Chuck
JIMs70GMC 04-07-2004, 06:48 AM Richmond sounds good to me. We could have a little caravan leaving SE VA. Me, Randy, Kerry, Richard, Brian, Steven headin' north.
Post a link on the 67-72 forum.
Lobo'74 04-07-2004, 10:01 PM Been on the road with work for three days...
I believe you might be right, a mention of this on the Message Board might help...
More later.
Virginia72SWB4X4 04-07-2004, 10:19 PM Richmond works for me!!
dwaite72lnghrn 04-08-2004, 08:04 PM I'll have to see how work goes. I already schedule my vacation around indiana meet. If I can get another day I could maybe make it. That is if you will take PA members.
Lobo'74 04-10-2004, 04:08 PM Shoot, I'm just tryin' to have a get together close enough that I can attend!
I'm sure that ANY board member that wants to attend will be welcome - now we just need to keep getting interested folks on here and start to make plans - looks like Richmond is the most popular choice so far, we just need to start lookin' for a place to meet.
Here's hopin' this all works out.

JIMs70GMC 05-03-2004, 11:57 AM ttt for you
pickupman 05-03-2004, 02:17 PM I may be able to make it, depending on location. I would also like to see a few more members make it up to my annual show. Or if you would like we could have the meet there. I have a tennative date for the show which is September 19th. I have to work out a few more details before I can set a definite date. It will be in Front Royal.
Bill :bowtie:
JIMs70GMC 05-04-2004, 10:24 AM Bill, I plan on making up to your show. I hope to be driving the truck I'm assemblying now.
gn4u2c 05-04-2004, 11:22 AM I am just over the md/pa line and would be interested. The farther north the better for me :D but it does not make a diffrence if it is a weekend it takes me about 3 1/2 hours to get down that way.
Billy Porter 05-04-2004, 03:25 PM Richmond would be great.......... I :gmc: live in petersburg
Lobo'74 05-04-2004, 07:13 PM Any one interested who lives in Richmond who can be a "guide" so we can find a place to meet? I'm not real familiar with Richmond. Its a convenient place for many in the area, so I hope we can pull this off.
72 Blazerman 05-05-2004, 06:25 PM I guess I could make it to Richmond, it's just a hop, skip and a jump from here.lol :D Hopefuly I'll have the Blazer ready to make the trip. By the way anyone going to the Super Chevy Show at Va Motorsports Park in October? :burnout:
Doug
1971LT1SWBPOSI373 05-07-2004, 02:24 PM Richmond works for me........ (I'm at Lake Anna)
old Rusty C10 05-08-2004, 10:25 AM id be interested too but just to come down early sat and hang out a while i think....
Lobo'74 05-09-2004, 09:07 AM Looks like we're getting some interest here - thats great. Now, is there anyone familiar with the Richmond area? The extent of my Richmond knowledge is the Home Depot on the west side of town, and how to get to the airport, on the east side of town.
We need to find a spot to gather at. Preferably one that is free - of course if some place wants to pay us to have a gathering of old - 'er, make that VINTAGE trucks we would gladly accept the payment and apply it to refreshments for all :D
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on this lets hear 'em. There is a Red, Hot and Blue joint on the west side of Richmond. Seems like Bar-B-Q and blues and these trucks go together well (IMHO). Just don't know of any spot to gather right around there.
We'll get it goin'....
72 CustomCamper 05-09-2004, 01:49 PM I can't help ya on a local, but there are still quite a few Richmond members that haven't chimed in yet...
Chuck
dons72 05-15-2004, 11:04 AM I will try and make the Oct meeting, but the Sept. show is almost a definate. I have my truck torn to pieces right now trying to clean up a few things.
72 CustomCamper 05-21-2004, 01:03 PM Time to TTT it again...
Chuck
chevytruckfan 05-25-2004, 10:05 AM Anyone close to Rustburg, VA that can take a look at a truck I am considering buying?
78k10383 06-01-2004, 11:03 PM I live in Richmond, plenty of places that we could have a hang out. Alot of clubs have get togethers at like Hooters or something ir down on the james river.
1971LT1SWBPOSI373 06-02-2004, 07:50 AM I'm all for Hooters (is the one that made the local 10:00 news any good?), or one of those places with the neon lights and the dancing girls inside!!!!!!!!!!! TJ
JIMs70GMC 06-18-2004, 04:30 AM Let me know when and where in Richmond. I also plan on going to Athey's in Sept.
72 CustomCamper 06-18-2004, 04:34 PM Yeah Jim, I want to go to Bill's show too....

-Nick
72 CustomCamper 06-19-2004, 01:28 AM That sounds cool to me Nick...
useRc10 06-20-2004, 04:35 PM when my mom gets back from NY, i'll have her check on prices for Pocahontas (she works for the state parks). Does this idea sound good to everyone else?
also, if anyone wants to take my '72 Blazer home with you, I'm still trying to get rid of it...
-Nick
Deelli 06-25-2004, 07:11 AM Looks like a good opportunity to meet some local chevy guys. I'll try to make it up......
useRc10 07-04-2004, 01:37 PM information on Pocahontas... http://www.dcr.state.va.us/parks/pocahont.htm
if we have 30-40 people, the shelter is $50 all day and 70-80 people, it would be $80...this includes access to a charcoal grill...teh pool will be closed in Sept though. How many people do y'all think we'd have.
-Nick
JIMs70GMC 07-10-2004, 10:58 PM Let me know. Maybe sometime in Oct?
Sounds good to me... I've got a wheeling meet at George Washington NF sometime in Sept and a Beach Run sometime in Oct... but hopefully it will be planned it for one of the other weekends...
BTW useRC10, how much you want for that 72?
7gmc2 07-14-2004, 09:15 PM richmond will be cool! count me in. we need a link to the main site if it hasn't already been done yet. i stumbled on this by accident. there are many great places to have it here. look forward to it!
72 Blazerman 07-14-2004, 09:27 PM hey Tink, is wheeling the same as atv riding?
Doug
hey Tink, is wheeling the same as atv riding?
Doug
Sure, just with trucks instead of atvs. :D
pickup nut 07-15-2004, 10:09 AM Sounds cool I can probally make it.
Randy70C-10 07-16-2004, 11:41 PM By the way anyone going to the Super Chevy Show at Va Motorsports Park in October? :burnout: Doug I'll be there, also Tim Christian will be there as well. How about another Super Chevy Show board meet?? :D
useRc10 07-17-2004, 11:32 PM if everyone is ok with a cookout/cruise in at Pocahontas, and we choose a date, i can go ahead and get reservations...
-Nick
7gmc2 07-18-2004, 09:37 AM let's do it! oct is good, but remember weather gets weird around this time in richmond. when is the super chevy show? is it at VA. motor sports park?
pickupman 07-18-2004, 11:16 AM I think Super Chevy is the 2nd weekend in Oct. I am planning on being at the super chevy show.
72 CustomCamper 07-18-2004, 11:52 PM Va Super Chevy is Oct 1st - 3rd at Virginia Motorsports Park. Same weekend as Fall Carlisle...
Chuck
I'm planning on being at the Super Chevy Show too... so for a meet at Pocahontas, that weekend and the last weekend of Oct is out for me.
However, I live super close to the VA Motorsports Park (I can hear the drag cars on the strip :burnout: ) , so we could get together at my place one of the nights of the Super Chevy Show... I've got a fire pit and plenty of parking... I'd just have to run it by my signifigant other. ;)
7gmc2 07-19-2004, 07:17 PM i could go either way on date and location. sounds like alot of us are already coming down for super chevy. maybe it is the better of the 2 dates. i say we should do a poll on a new thread for a final answer.that way gets a vote in the where and when...all in favor? anybody got another way speak up.
blazen72 07-21-2004, 01:52 PM my dad and i could meet yall up there....im only 15 but im getting a 72 blazer in about a week from TX..........im in the newport news area...not too too far away...kinda of a new member but i want to meet some new people with blazers.. thanks
72 CustomCamper 08-03-2004, 12:29 AM Time to bump this thread to the top again...
Chuck
The offer is still open to get together at my place one of the nights of the Super Chevy Show...
Wootdog 08-12-2004, 04:41 PM If I ever get the 67 on the road. If not I will drive the 68. Kerry
7gmc2 10-09-2004, 07:28 AM :gmc: very sorry to hear the news about your wife lobo. i am glad to hear things are going better for her and yourself. i do think you are right though on the intrest. i think we should try this again in the spring. maybe in april. weather will be good and some of us will have trucks back on the road again.
7gmc2 10-09-2004, 04:16 PM :gmc: well it has been almost 2 months since this thread has been touched, so i 'll see if there is still anybody still going to do this. i would guess not since it is not active. it is now about 2 1/2 weeks till 29th or 30th date. is this a go or not? speak now or we will try for next spring............
Lobo'74 10-09-2004, 06:18 PM I started the thread, then got sidetracked . . . wife got cancer and we spent the summer fighting that. Good news is she is doing very well . . . bad news is I dropped this event planning, just too much going on over the last three months.
I would love to see an event in the central VA area (Richmond/Charlottesville/ruckersville etc), but looks like although there is some interest, it isn't enough to reach ctital mass yet.
Any thoughts?
useRc10 01-25-2005, 11:51 PM Hey guys,
bringing this back up to see if y'all would still want to do something...if i can get a date (maybe a weekend in June) I can make reservations for a pavilion at Pocahontas State Park (Chesterfield, 20 min drive from Richmond)...I think it would be a good place to have a cookout, plenty of parking for trucks, fishing, swimming, and canoe rentals...lets get some response for what weekend would be good
-Nick
***now that I think about it, let me name a date and see if anyone opposes to it...might work better that way. How about Saturday, June 11, 2005... they also have camping if anyone would be interested in staying for marshmallows
Who approves this date?
72 CustomCamper 01-26-2005, 12:23 AM Randy mentioned a meet at Super Chevy in October...
Chuck
96blazr 01-26-2005, 06:33 AM How about Saturday, June 11, 2005... they also have camping if anyone would be interested in staying for marshmallows
Who approves this date?
JUNE 11th is perfect for me.
I'll finish my Show at the KENA Shrine on the 5th for my Antique car club and then boogie down to Richmond that Saturday. :metal:
Once there, we'll be able to talk about the other shows coming up on the Schedule.(Piegon Forge, NSRA, Super Chevy, etc.)
