I can supply about 4k dollars worth of reciepts for this truck in the last year alone. That's parts only, I do all my own labor. A run down... Engine: Rebuilt injection pump, turned up 10 percent by the best shop around. New POD injectors from Piers Diesel Research. High output piston lift pump from an industrial Cummins application. New water pump, belt tensioner, idler pulley, belt, all coolant hoses and heater hoses. KDP tabbed. All gaskets and seals, including front and rear mains, new from Cummins. Valves adjusted, all new filters of course. This engine leaks not one drop of anything. You can park it in any driveway and not worry about dripping. Transmission- Rebuilt and fortified by Phoenix Transmission. Check out their website. Scott, the manager is my personal friend and he pulled out all the stops on this one. Custom built torque converter too. If it can be heavy dutified in the trans, he did it to this one. Also has a Maghytec double deep (plus 6 quart capacity) finned aluminum pan on it. I have the reciept for 1800 bucks for the trans rebuild. The aluminum pan was an additional 280 bucks over that, and it's full of synthetic Amsoil trans fluid. That was over 150 bucks for just the fluid. That's over 2200 dollars just on the transmission. While I was R and R'ing the trans, I also installed a high strength flexplate too, as these trucks have been known to crack a flexplate under heavy torque. That's no longer an issue now. Rearend- is 3.54 ratio. I serviced it completely and installed a Maghytec finned aluminum rear cover on it. This is an o-ring cover with a built in dipstick to check rear oil level anytime without mess. This cover was 250 dollars. Again, the rearend is full of Amsoil synthetic fluid too. Front end- has new lower ball joints and new heavy duty lift leveling coil springs. Wheels and tires- Wheels are Alcoa forged wheels with 10 ply tires with good tread all around. Interior- Has a very nice dash top pod with three added auxiliary guages. They are Isspro brand gauges (the best). Has turbo EGT, trans fluid temperature, and turbo boost gauges. Has a decent Kenwood CD player and 4 new speakers (Cerwin Vega in back, Pioneer in front). Dash is not cracked. Seat needs recovering and truck has no carpet. Body- is so-so. This has been a work truck most of it's life. I installed a new windshield last week. New door hinge pins and strikers. It's a Texas truck, so the body is solid. Paint sucks. Hood is mismatched color. Has nice bed top caps and tailgate cap. I installed new tail lights recently too. Very nice Rawson Koenig brand toolbox with new locks and keys. Has a heavy duty reciever hitch too. I built this truck right, but now I'm bored with it. I bought the best of everything when working on it. Things like rear main seals cost about triple at Cummins than generic parts store, but the difference in quality is obvious when you see them. Cummins water pump and such is much higher quality than O Reilly or Autozone stuff. Alcoa forged wheels are top notch and not cheap cast wheels. I could go on an on. This truck gets 20 miles per gallon time and again. I've never gotten less than 17 mpg with it, and that was pulling a loaded trailer pretty hard. I guess it goes without saying that with 800 foot pounds of torque, this truck pulls very strong. It's a horse for sure. You'll outpull any gasser truck out there and get twice the fuel mileage doing it. I want to trade this truck for a 3/4 or 1 ton GM truck, or even a decent 4x4. I'm not too set on vintage. I'd even trade it for the right 80's or 90's year truck if the deal was right. I want something to play with. Idealy, I'd get a 71 or 72 3/4 ton that I can trick out, but I'm certainly not set on that. Listen fellas, I'm realistic, I know I have invested more into this truck than it's worth. It's not the first time or the last time I've done that. If you have something that you might want to try and swap for this thing, send me a message. You never know one way or the other. I love hillbilly pickups with clunky bumpers and gun racks or whatever. I have a clear title to this truck in my hand in my name. If you live in Texas, the added bonus is that the registration and inspection are new last week, so you're good to go for the next 12 months. Being a diesel, there are no emission BS inspections to worrry about either. They just honk the horn, flash the lights and slap a sticker on it.
