Re: Roll call... 1962's!
Didn't think the Chevy trucks had a boxed in front frame.

Both my 62's had this frame. |
Re: Roll call... 1962's!
I was told only the gmc truck because of the torque the big block v6 motors had.

Re: Roll call... 1962's!
I'm not too sure on that but both my 62 Chevy's had this frame and I know I never made more torque than any open frame could have handled.
I actually prefer the 63-72 style - open or "channel" frame from a build-perspective - Easier to make upgrades, clean, prep, paint, plumb, etc. at home... I.M.H.O. It is what it is. My truck and I share "birth" years so I'm going to stay with the 62... at least until another rusted Chevy truck becomes available ;^) |
Re: Roll call... 1962's!
My 65 is on a 62 frame:

Re: Roll call... 1962's!
here's mine, it's a c20 with a flatbed. i use it as a work truck, but i'd like to do a bit of work on it to restore it a bit and make it a little nicer. It's not a '62 cab, but it's been registered as a '62 by the washington state patrol.

You made me question my 62 frame ... Its boxed as well ... I'm sure all the Chevy and GMC frames were the same once manufactored .. But after arriving at the Chevy or GMC Assem. Plant , That is probably where things changed ... Coil Springs / Leaf Springs , Motor Mounts , ETC .. :ito:

Here's my 1962. Bought it last August in Wenatchee, WA (pic 1) and hauled it over the Cascades to its new home in Gig Harbor. As you can see, it's a SWB, BBW side stepper that looks pretty rough but seemed to have benefitted living in the dryer climes east of the Cascades. Have found a wealth of information from this forum the last 10 months and will be posting some questions for things that I was unable to find while searching.

I like your truck. A couple of questions. Where did you get the fog lights? They look old school and blend in very well. Are those bumper guards originally for '62? What type of hood ornament is that on your truck? 1Bad, |
