Seeing the Youtube slides reminds me of a really cool Chevrolet ad for the 65 Chevy cars: Nova, Corvette, Corvair and Impala. All done by the cast of Bonanza with actresses from Bewitched as well. Do a search under; 1965 Chevrolet ads.

My dad worked in a GM dealers body shop and said in 62 you could not buy the 60/61 style replacement hood any longer from GM/chevy ....So when you see a 60/61 with a later hood they may have been hit and replaced LONG ago

Yeah, there was a TSB about it--from what I've found, the hoods were very expensive to manufacture, so rather than keep making them for the crash replacement panel service, they just told all the dealers to replace them with the '62-up hoods.
I thought it was cool that those trucks in the pic seem to have exactly that.

It's been suggested this is a Canadian line. Interesting to note the variations from standard on this one truck. Grill and bumper paint, and two different tires.

Are you sure those aren't 62s in the photo? When I look closely I think I see 62 grilles.

Isnt this a chassis cab truck ? Im guessing its a special order paint. Mirrors extended pretty far out suggests something big for a bed on this one. Not sure but that line looks odd, looks like a Panel truck behind it , then maybe a 4x4 then a BIG truck coming around the corner. Just a thought but having recently purchased a GMC Civil Defense truck , the paint code under the hood is in chalk for blue but the main body has white in areas only done before assembly. It also has blue bumpers. Not sure if CD trucks were factory painted this way but it appears to be.

At one time , I had a fan deck of special colors GMC offered to it's fleet customers. If you bought a quantity , they would paint them right at the factory your colors and combinations.
You could specify tires for each axle and spare when ordering new.

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture

Big thanks oem4me for transferring this great photo to the assembly thread:metal:. I agree this must the Canadian line. American GMC pickups did not have series indentification emblems, the first truck has emblems on upper cowl ( '65 Chevy location) The absence of V6 emblems is more fuel for the argument, but not enough alone, since straight sixes were available in both American and Canadian '64-'65 GMC's. I also agree the first truck sports a special order fleet paint job.

Gotta love the fact that these trucks weren't in enclosed boxcars like they are now. Wonder if my 65 Sub is on this train somewhere?

Looking at the Carryall, it looks like Jr. West Coast mirrors were an option. Sometimes I wish I still had mine.

Too bad there aren't more assembly pictures of the Carryalls. I have this one in my collection though. Heck, it could even be mine. My truck was number 7588.

pic is a little higher quality on oem's link---

I have this picture in my binder of the Fremont assembly plant for my Suburban that came from there. On the next page is the same water tower laying on the ground when they knocked it down to become NUMMI uilding Toyotas...yuck!

A GMC B model. Previous '63 GMC assembly line photo, post #249, note the black out behind grill, similar to the way Chevy's are done, this detail disappeared on '64-'66 GMC's, IMO, not a good move.
