The plate is nice, much better than the steel one I got, which was a bit thin and crude, to the point I had another one machined. Still steel though, I needed it thicker so I could countersink the flanges on 3/8" rivetnuts.

Thank you Richard, I had planned on going with 1 tons, I have all the pieces, but then I considered I may not have enough vacuum on this motor. So, the logical choice was hydro boost.

Anyone need OEM brackets and linkage for power brakes? Also, new brake booster

After I get some flange nuts, I plan to run a bead of dumdum around the alum. To keep out water, every bracket I have taken off so far has had rust behind it

Scorpio, great idea on the rivnuts, one of these days I'll get around to spending the money to buy that tool

For a hand rivnut setter look at the Marson 425-RNK, nice quality tool and does #12 thru 3/8" Rivnuts *and* studs as well as their Metric equivalents. Anything bigger than that requires either a pneumatic or hydraulic tool.

The tool is about the size of a decent size set of bolt cutters. There is also smaller ones more like a typical pop-rivet tool that do #4 thru #12. For either of these you need a nose piece and a draw stud for each size you want to do.

Don't know what's going on, but got the lines threaded. Don't use a wrench, unless you have 3-4 threads started by hand
I can only post up on the quick reply

Loosen all brackets and mounting bolts and use a pipe wrench

If you are out of pages they have to give you more. I have enjoyed it too much.

Thanks Chad for watching, every time I try to post to quote, it takes me back to a previous one.

Anything new on your build?

That Hyrdo Boost looks nice. I like how the hoses connect from the bottom. Where did you get this unit?

72K5CSTDarkOlive 03-05-2016 05:02 PM

Re: PO has me PO'd

whoops.. I scrolled up the page and found out. I'm looking to use the same unit as well

Ok, seems to be working again

Flange nuts were in the box of parts, hooked up the premade hoses to the unit, now working on the linkage to the peddle, and mount the tank, still want to get cover for m/c plated, not sure which type of plating, black or phosphate. Black may tie in better with the 49 shades of grey, have to ask Pete who he used

Www.hydratechbraking.com has three levels of build, 3-4 weeks lead time

Jim...my build is going well. Just slow. I had to work most of the month of February so I haven't done much lately. However I hope over the next couple weeks to make some significant progress. Here are a couple pics. Thanks for asking.

Thanks Chad for watching, progress looks good on your truck

Been in contact with Petersen fluid to make a new power steering canister, don't want to use a 'T' fitting, so I'll add another -6 fitting to the can for the return. Drawing should be done Friday, and about a week to build, if the drawing is correct. They told me the fitting inside should have a bend, so to swirl the fluid and allow the air to separate.

My plan is to mount it on the prop. valve bracket

Here's a drawing of the new can, should take about a week to make

Ok, been awhile, not sure if this location is high pressure port, any help?

That's the right port for high pressure. I just checked mine for confirmation.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Ordered my remanufactured power steering pump from NAPA yesterday, arrived this morning 8 am, 40.00 w/ core.

[url=https://flic.kr/p/ErW6Bx]https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1683/...f5f76d25_c.jpg[/

Just have to make up some hoses

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1583/...b77bfe93_c.jpg

Found a fitting supply that doesn't know the meaning of " not in stock". Pure choice motorsports, needed a an -6 female swivel to 90 degree bend 3/8" push on barb, for the low pressure port on the steering box

Also, my SS socket head cap screw are about 1/2" long for the mount, so I'll have to get some shorter ones

Thanks Tully, you and me both learning, but it is fun buying new parts and making them work. This forum is great, never an unkind word
Hope you get that driveshaft worked out... since a shop did the lower, can you have them address it

My new thoughts are tending to the steering knuckle

If you don't mind my asking, what is the application or part number for that PS pump?

Sure captain, 1972 350 cu. in. GMC jimmy and pick up
NAPA's part #38-5141, I bought mine w/o tank, you can get either way. No pulley and no mount, but was an exact match to mine. My pulley had a key

If you get yours w/o tank, make sure you keep your mounting bolts for the tank, as it doesn't come with them, but does include the pressure port fitting
