loweredd 11-19-2003 02:06 AM

Capt, I've been thinking about it, and why didnt you take another inch? Just because you didnt need it?

Slammed '87 11-19-2003 02:16 AM

Slammed '87 11-19-2003 02:31 AM

Slammed '87 11-19-2003 02:34 AM

Slammed '87 11-19-2003 02:37 AM

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR i love that sh1t !!!!!! need more info though!!!!

Captkaos 11-19-2003 05:34 PM

Thanks N2TRUX.

I posted this method before, but it musta got lost...

At the time I only wanted to do 1.5" as after that you really get into some trouble with what you have been reading on here, BUT, I am going to be doing 2" next go around, as will the rack and pinion setup. I had some people interested in purchasing these, and I will still build them for those interested.

The whole website transfer (my purchase of www.73-87chevytrucks.com) held me up some, but I should be getting in the grove again.

I wish i would have kept the one i had took out. I could cut it up for fun.

grnddwn 11-19-2003 07:41 PM

If ya go two inches your gonna have to go with a rack. I know cause I had to do some interesting grinding to get mine to work.

I definitely agree, If you go lower than 1.5" you will have to use a rack.

grnddwn,
if you used your stock box and went 2", I would like to see pics from the front for curiosity sake.

I'll be doing the 1.5" with your method soon. Just need to pick up a spare crossmember just in case. :D

loweredd 11-21-2003 12:48 PM

I have a crossmember sitting in my garage for this, but now, I think I'm going to Z it. 1.5 isnt going to help me get down and I think it would be close with 3, so Z here I come!!!

Sweet. Looks pretty similiar to the buddies shop I work out of. :D :metal:

Captkaos 11-22-2003 11:18 AM

Yeah, VERY sweet. I would love that in my side yard too. I can fit 3 of my garages in there. 60'x60' with 16' doors.

phantom dually 11-24-2003 12:21 AM

I originally cut mine for two inches but I put in a 1/4 inch spacer after running into some clearance problems. I also found that if I only put the outside nut on the U bolt so the bolt just came out the top and then cranked down the other side it cleared quite nicely. I'll take some pics when I pull my motor next month.
