Great job on the burban , cant wait to be as far along as you are. I have the same set up from scotts and was wondering how much lift are you getting in the rear? Did you have to change anything?

CHIZZLER 12-28-2011 07:51 PM

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

total lift in the back is about 7".the only thing i need to change is to get longer shocks for the back to go to about 9".we welded the 4-link in place then welded in 1/2" bump stops then set up the upper bag mounts.chizzler

If you are happy and he is happy, it sold for the right price. I quit worrying years ago about if I had sold something for too cheap when I remembered all the times I let a sale go buy and ended setting on something for a long time over a few bucks. Karma works, even if you did leave some money on the table someone in the past or in the future will give you a similar deal. For example, i sold my original seat frame for $25 (later found out it MIGHT have been worth much more). While here the guy asked if I had the stock heater, which I did. We traded my heater for his unwanted Vintage air setup (didn't have the compressor or condenser).

hey there guys.been working on loose ends with the burb.just wondering if anyone can help with getting the 70 mustang tank and sending unit to work with factory gauge.is the best way to change sending unit?trying to get this thing on the road.thanks chizzler.

ohms is what its all about my freind. the 70 mustang sending unit wont work with your factory gauge.the mustang has a 70-10 ohm sending unit.the factory gmc/chevrolet gauge is a 0-30 ohm.unless someone has messed with it.chevs of the 40s has the 0-30 ohm sending unit for $25 with out fuel outlet or $40 with fuel outlet.sorry about the small pics

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

thanks fred.i was trying to avoid that.i had heard about a in-line resistor.but cant find any info on it.burb looked good at roadster shop.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

Great job on your burb build.
You went thru almost exactly the same issues I did when I built my baresteel 53 burb.
Looks great man!

fredscarryall 03-22-2012 12:16 AM

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

good luck with the resistor.i went down that road.save yourself the time and flustration.i tried to figure it out for about 4 hours with no luck. it was just easier to modify a 0-30 sending unit from chevs of the 40s to fit in the tank.i even had an electrical guy look at it,but he couldnt do it either.if you can figure it out let me know.glad to see your getting close to having it on the road.

well guys today felt like a little bit of victory.we took the burb out for a drive.everything is working great.the scotts ifs front and rear 4 bar are amazing.(thanks justin).it drove straight as a arrow at 60mph with no problems.the 700r4 shifts great and the gears in the back are perfect.the motor was pingin pretty good when we got on it but we can fix that.gonna have to put a new oil pan gasket in also.i think i found a fix to my mustang tank.im gonna try and fit a f*** courier fuel gauge into the factory cluster.its the right ohm and looks to be about the same size.maybe we can glue the face of the old gauge to the new one.anyways thanks all for the support.chizzler

I've seen them listed between $800 to $1000 for the rear seat, there's a guy that sells a reproduction rear seat frame for $800.
