Unfortunately, it is still in storage. With everything going on, we just don't have the time to go get it yet. I have some projects that are making me money, so those have priority for now.

Great work on the grill. I like the mod you have in mind for it. Sorry we couldn't get something worked out with my bro to get your burb home. Nice project shell. What's in store for it?

Thanks! And no worries about not being able to work something out. As for the yellow suburban shell, that is up to my brother. This is his project.

How big do you want it to be? I was thinking of just big enough to fit in a reply box. How about 800px? Is that big enough?

Remember that picture of that yellowish suburban body that I posted? Well, it doesn't look like that anymore!

And the count down begins. 12 days until we head back to Colorado to bring the Suburban to California. I would like to thank my wife for FINALLY agreeing to go with me, my in-laws for watching the kids, and my brother for loaning me his truck!

That's right, February 14th we leave for Colorado. The plan is to be back by Monday.

Well, we made it! We got snow going over the 70 and it was a little slow with only 2 wheel drive. So I will psot again after I have my whits about me. We drove straight there and straight back. I am out of it.

I don't have a very good picture of the trailer, but here it is. What do you think of my dinky spare?

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-L...-26-03_679.jpg

The blow out. The nice thing about this trailer with the 16 inch wheels, it didn't drag the rim.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-j...-26-22_944.jpg

The most important thing that got left in the trailer

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family

Well I spent the night getting the suburban dug out of the trailer. There is some obvious damage that is new, and so far I think I only lost one piece of glass in the accident. It is too dark and windy for pictures, so I will try to take some tomorrow. All four of the casters I had welded on the frame broke, so I have to remove them or something else to get it out of the trailer.

Where do you talk about "the accident"? Is that how the trailer got banged up?

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family

Never mind. Found it.

Page 9 starting at post 220. The 70 suburban was inside the trailer. The 91 donor burb was towing it and got totaled. both Suburbans were had full coverage, but the trailer wasn't covered (oops). I didn't file a claim on the 70 because I didn't want it totaled out, and I didn't want my premium to go through the roof for totaling 2 vehicles at once! I am going to re-skin the trailer. there is no structural damage to it. Here is what we got to replace the 91 suburban since the accident left us with only the Yukon, and it's a 2 door, not 4.

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family

This was the most nerve wracking thing about unloading the Suburban. If you know what these tracks are from, than you know why I didn't want to come face to face with it in a confined space!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-h...1_856D4A3D.jpg
It turned out the raccoon had vacated. this was probably the worst of the body damage.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-a...-49-15_941.jpg
Rockers and 3rd door damage. The rockers were in need of replacement already.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-d...0_2A2E643C.jpg
This may be easier to replace than repair.

As of now the suburban will be taking a back seat to my brothers crew cab. The only thing that might happen will be the b-pillars getting built at the same time. I will still work on it to stay busy!

So who wants to be my roadside assistant when I make this trip? Once I know dates, I will post my map and itinerary. The whole fam is excited about going back to the Springs.

This is exactly what I want to do to my grille.... here are a couple of pics that I doctored up last fall.....

It's gonna get scratched. That's for sure. I am sick of looking at this pile of parts.

so...

I am going to put it back together. No resto, just back to a driver. I have everything except for the interior. thank you wildlife for that one.

So, While I am building the 4th door on my brothers truck, I will finish the 4th on mine too. I will also start sorting through my big pile of parts and using what I want to keep, or run-for-now, and selling the rest. I just want to drive it again. It may be a while before I get to paint, but there is no reason it can't be a work in progress!

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family

Well I brought home some parts for the Suburban to take care of this problem. This thing rode ROUGH!!! I also have some 47" long lift springs I am tempted to use up front.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-p...ckle%25203.JPG

I am finishing up some work on my Yukon and my Dad's Honda so that this week I can work on my brothers truck and the 4th door on the Suburban. It is getting warm enough (by that I mean HOT!!!!) that I will be running in the mornings instead of the evenings, which means more time on the truck and the burb!

Chipping away at little things when I can...

finally finished this up... only to have another one I am going to use instead. Long story short, I am dropping in a 700r and the adapter I have is for a 10 spline case. I didn't want to tear this one apart. The build for the t-case is in my signature. It only took me 2 years!
