Re: 73-87 4x4s

My pickup is pretty much stock besides the lift, wheels and tires obviously. All have 4 inches of lift with 33-12.50's. My 83 has a 305 with cam, heads and intake topped with a 4b carb. I have a local machine shop lined up to do a nice 383 stroker for me:metal:. New paint and body work done about 5 yrs ago.
My friends 87 has the original fuel injected 350 with some mild heads and cam. Its his baby, he's owned it for about 5 yrs now and it probably has 5000 miles on it since then always garaged.
The 85 with the flames is a short box that he has owned since i was riding my bike around town and he pretty much started my crush on what i think is the best looking body style of pickup ever built. Tons of money in that truck. 383 stroker professionally built by Spanel racing engines, new tranny, new rearend and transfer case, dual shock setup, you name its done. It only comes out to play about twice a year if that. Very nice truck.
And that Scout in the last picture is my brother's, just thought i'd throw that in there. Badass trail rig, 348 International v8, full roll cage. Fun to drive!

What color is yours? I like it. It looks like a brandy wine color with a peweter on the bottom. Ya i noticed the scout quick. I really liked it also. I used to have one . Again them are some beautiful rides

Re: 73-87 4x4s

Thank you very much for the compliments. Not sure what the color codes or names r. It is a real deep rich wine color on a almost graphite grey, u might say. I wasn't completely sold on the color till I seen it polished and waxed in the sun. Really has a lot of depth in the wine color.

rollinsgrbdy;
its almost done to where i want it. It needs paint and the front leveled out. I still need to button up some weak points ie: steering box brace,drive shaft catcher and some diff armor. I also need to swap out the th400 for a 4spd. its a 454 on lpg so i need to add another mixer so i can get the max hp out it. Almost 15000 cdn $ in receipts and everything is rebuilt from the ground up. Now its just the little things!!!!!! Not bad for a 1000km a week truck!

Re: 73-87 4x4s

Hey guys havnt posted on here in a while. Well I got the Burban running pretty good. She is down at the moment because i snapped the driveshaft but other than that good. Im finally buying another vehicle to have as a daily driver so i can start tearing apart the burban from top to bottom. Shes got now a rebuilt 5.7 tbi stock, a rebuilt 700r4 and rebuilt rear axle with a locker installed. Still has 342s but will be 410s soon. Shes sits on 33/12.50/15 toyos. No lift. Had to cut the front wells out for tire clearance. Anyway just wanted to update on here and upload this pic. Went out to Padre Island National Sea Shore Park here in corpus christi, tx. Water was beautiful and flat. Tide was low. If it was High you would have to drive through deep soft sand closer to the dunes and the drive takes about 4x longer lol.

The lift was purchased off Craigslist used for 150. As far as the 305 it was in it when I purchased it so i really don't know how much power it has. Seat of the pants comparing it to my dads old k10 that had a stroker with about 375 at the flywheel mine feels around 275, but that is a shot in the dark. For what it is I am really surprised at the throttle response and power it has. I am in the process of gettin all my ducks in a row to build a 350 with around 375-400hp and 400-415tq. :burnout:

Thank You! I have liked these types of wheels for a long time and have seen them on a 73-80 body-style truck around here but I have never known what they were called so I could try to find some....quick google search turned up many good results (also craigslist)
Thanks!
