Got the inner fenders and grille surround in place, but some minor adjustments are needed...

Got a lot of odds and ends done today. The new window regulators are in, 2 of the holes in each regulator are in the wrong spot, I'll have to drill new holes and use a locknut on the back side. The drivers side vent window assembly is in, I'd have the passenger side in too but I couldn't find the 5/16 fine thread nut for the pivot spring. I'll have to grab one when I'm out and about tomorrow.
Stainless door strikers replaced the zinc plated ones I had in there. I also started terminating the front end wiring. The fan relay and door solenoid button are now operational. |

I ended up re-rebuilding my vent window assemblies because I had the special washers with the oval hole on the wrong side of the lower pivot. Simple mistake but a lot of BS to take everything back apart. While it was apart I replaced the weatherstripping too, it was the only things I hadn’t replaced the first time around. The new ones fit much better.
I got the glass in the drivers side door and discovered that the regulators I ordered are for a 60 to 66 truck, not sure how that happened but everything had to come apart again. The correct ones should be here mid week. |

I used the last of the SEM bed liner kit to coat the firewall in the wheel well area and the cab steps. I also got the horns installed and the front filler panel on.

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build
Cool! Where are those horns installed? Can’t tell from that picture. I bought some new small Cadillac horns from eBay and those look a lot like them. I’ve been struggling to figure out a good place for them where they won’t get full of water or dirt. Any help appreciated

The correct window regulators showed up today so I was able to get the driver's side assembled. The passenger side will have to wait until tomorrow night...

I got the hood springs in without scratching anything and installed the garnish moldings. The remaining glass goes in tomorrow morning, then I can start putting on the front clip.

I moved more parts out of the basement and onto the truck. All of the glass is in, so is some of the interior. The rear speakers, instrument cluster and passenger side door panel took up the better part of the afternoon...

I love those SW green stripe gauges!!! My '55 Belair had those when I was a kid. I swapped them for some cheapo Taiwan gauges and regret it. When I get back on the Belair I'm going for some new green stripes!!!

I wasn’t really happy with the way the windshield fit and then I figured out that the gasket was installed incorrectly. My brother in law came over and we pulled out the windshield, put the seal on correctly and put it back in (after being YouTube certified). Much better now, I should have put it in myself the first time instead of relying on a “professional”.
