I agree. You are doing the right thing with finishing it...and leave the logo as an option for the potential buyer...use it like a carrot

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
No I would paint it a very shiney Hugger orange with white roof like you thought about doing. This would probably give you your biggest market.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Pretty sure she's becoming a fleet soon!.. I have someone interested in my stepside bed. Ill know not this weekend but next.
I hear the repro beds sold by sokyclassics are 99% OEM fit and qualit. Any input? Im thinking hugger orange with Brazilian Teak wood bed. White 68 style top and grille with full trim and saddle houndstooth bench. 70-71 CST style door panels. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
I think that would look awesome Chad. I love Hugger Orange and even though Red is my favorite color I still think about painting it Hugger Orange sometimes. I'm like 75/25 Red/Hugger. I think your definitely on the right track buddy.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
I like them both, but I just want to run trim around the fender wells.

Hard to beat the sound of an old BBC.

Yeah main bearings can look bad and give you a scare but still have a fine crank shaft. The idea is for the soft bearings to catch the dirt particles and score but not damage the journals. Just replace the bearings.

Okay fellas ! The GMC is sold and on it's way to Texas. Back on this one! I'll be pulling the cab soon to start the bodywork and final blocking. I have another set of buckets purchased, I'm going to pick them up soon.
This one will be Hugger Orange with saddle buckets, carpet, etc. Rosewood steering wheel, 70-71 Custom door panels and lots of Lokar stuff. Not sure what I will do on the suspension yet, I have a couple ideas but it will be heavily PB influenced if you know what I mean :D I just have to wait and see how and/or when the new baby comes along. I may be a bit slower from here but Pops and I will get this one done too. The GMC was fun guys! Thanks for following along. It went to a great guy. He's going to paint it and has all new upper and lower trim on the way. |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project

All righty Chad... I just read this whole thread start to finish (at work...shhhhh) and I'm really fired up to see this one! It's going to be wicked!!!
And because of YOU, I have a guy coming to buy the CPP pieces and I'll be going PB too. Gee thanks Chad. ;) Posted via Mobile Device |

OK, I liked what you did on Grande Slam, now I hope to see this one take a step up. When are you getting back at it? Its a holiday weekend, good time to start.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Hey man.. thanks for joining
I picked up a set of 69-70 truck buckets the other day and I will probably go to Bowling Green in a couple weeks to get my fleet bed. This truck will be pretty easy from here though.. zero rust, its just paint and final assembly. (And a few sparks.. :) Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
You gonna do a dropmember??? :D

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Ummm.. Possibly. What would a nicely restored 73-87 front K-member bring at a fruit market in China?

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project

When you go to Bowling Green stop by for a visit maybe we can grab some lunch!

Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
Ed and Pops might be with me but we'll leave them in the truck.
Hey how difficult is it to change over to an air dash? A high hump is absolutely mandatory for a drop member setup? makes sense .. but I have just never changed one over. It's a low hump cab now. Is there a lot to going to high hump? |
Re: 1969 C10 SWB Stepside - Big Block project
^^^ Hey!!! I wanna get out too.
I was wondering about the high hump business too. I'm really wondering if its necessary with a mild or touring DM mainly. Posted via Mobile Device |
