Thanks, believe me I was livid, when it happened it was almost more question of how in the ____ does this happen. That blank is 4 spaces,. Im just glad it worked out in the end, I even learned some new stuff along the way.

To say I'm jealous of your body and paint skills would be an understatement. If you were in the PDX area I'd be lobbying hard to throw money at you to do my truck at some point in the future :).

Oh man! Exactly why I'm going to wait to paint until I'm real close to being completed. I'm in a small garage and tend to be clumsy. I dropped a door hinge last night trying to put in my daily driver floorboard last night. Nice ding and chip! Dang it.

Great job on the repair.

Thanks, I keep telling everyone its one and done. We had a guy down to the shop last weekend and he was looking at my truck, he asked who did my body and paint and I said I did. His overall reaction was priceless to me, it made all the hard work worth it and put me in a lot better mood about fixing my box. He inquired about having me work on a car of his too. Id be lying if I said I haven't considered doing this type of work on the side.

Ive been lacking heavily in updates. I turned a huge page with my project and got the box on, bolted down, and installed the floor. Everything went pretty good putting all that together, mock up pays off huge on a lot of this stuff.

A few things that seem trivial but I spent a lot of time on was my inner fender/splash guards and my fuel filler. I was really happy with how splash guards bolted in and turned out after a lot of rework. The next thing was my fuel filler, I wanted the filler to be in the middle of a board and not on a board and stainless hold down. For whatever reason my tank had the filler landing so about a third of it was on one of the pieces of stainless. My cousin helped me customize the filler, we turned it down in a lathe, cut away what wasnt needed and rebuilt it so the filler was offset as much as possible. I did a little repositioning on my tank and in the end it ended up working out with just enough wiggle room to fit in the middle of a board.

With the box on I worked on assembling the floor. It was more of a job than I thought it would be, there are alot of bolts holding everything together and it did take some fine tuning to get everything even. In the end it came out better than I had hoped it would, Im glad I made the choice of black wood.

I mentioned turning a huge page, well I was now into a new chapter. If you notice in the last pic above the scenery changed.

Now that I had the box on and had mocked up pretty much everything else, all that was left was the rear bumper, and a quick inspection of everything. Ive been going over a lot of stuff making sure it was road worthy for the last month or two so it was pretty well ready to go. After fixing a rear tail light, I was ready for the maiden voyage. We put enough gas in to make it downtown to a gas station, and from there cruised up home. It felt incredible to finally be on the road, dad and I had a great little cruise. We made it out of town and had ran it through all the gears, I was really babying it at this point. We were going up a pretty good hill and my dad wanted to make sure it would down shift out of lockup alright, so I went about 1/4 throttle, holy cow did it down shift, and sound good doing it. We both looked at each other and started laughing, one of those holy **** moments.

I keep meaning to stop when Im out on one of my tuning drives to snap a couple pictures but I get wrapped up in watching stuff and forget. That and up until today the thing was running like crap, I finally had enough time to do some research and make some changes to get it running better. Ive got my Maf sensor about dialed in so that is helping as well.

In the meantime I have a couple garage pics.

Currently I finally got around to starting the tailgate last weekend. I had it blasted, sprayed 2 coats of epoxy on it, and then spread a little filler on some spot welds. It got another coat of epoxy today and Im trying to decide what I want to do next. I think Im going to go to some feather fill and try to get the stamped lettering blocked a little better.

Thank you.

Sprayed some Feather Fill on the tailgate this weekend. Hope to have it blocked this week sometime and then maybe paint in a couple weeks. Im planning on painting the letters black so that will be a challenge.

Need to do some catching up from the last couple weeks. I stopped on a cruise a few weeks back and snapped a few outdoor pictures, it was an absolutely beautiful day.

I have also finished up my tailgate, I blocked it out a couple times total. When it came time to paint I spent alot of time on the letters. My goal was to have the letters be black and to do it all in paint. I received alot of great info from the guys on the SPI forum and despite a few nervous moments it ended up coming out fantastic. Im so happy I was able to pull it off with all paint, it was kind of a personal goal.

I agree with cornerstone, I love how this has turned out. Outstanding attention to detail on the entire build and that tailgate is no exception.

Thank you.

I had to grab some stuff out of my garage today so I snapped a picture. This has really exceeded my expectations.

Been a few months since I have updated. I had a nice extended break from truck duties, it was great to have some free time on the weekends.

I have been working more and more on my truck as of late trying to finish up some things. Some of the things I've completed include installing a different brake booster, a radiator expansion tank, cleaned up and installed the windshield wipers, and I have cut and buffed both box sides. I still have a decent list of things I need to do but slowly things are coming around. The next big ticket item will be a transmission swap in a few weeks, I had some issues with the one in it now and we decided to change it. After that is done my list will be a lot of piddly things.

Some buffing pictures.

I also have a couple quick videos, one of my box, and one of the engine.

Amazing work on every level.
Curious about your planned brake booster change.
Why and what are you switching to - if I may ask?
It looks like you have a dual 9" diaphragm booster which is what I have been leaning towards with my modified LS3 swap.
Thanks.
